if (god forbid) the league came down on him, it would be kinda funny if this post managed to become true against all odds

At least we will have Hayward sober which is 50% as valuable as Miles high.

Not sure what takes you are talking about but Bridges posted the picture, not some snoop. The joint is irrelevant to just about everyone here, the drank is not a great sign anyway you cut it.

I figured I said something stupid when we drafted him, but not as bad as I thought.

That said if there's one area Miles has regressed in from college it's his shooting. No reason an 80+ percentage free throw shooter can't be above average from 3. If he can get his 3 point percentage up to 37% or so he'd be one of the most efficient wing scorers in the league. Mostly I think he needs to pick his spots better, he took a lot more 3s this past season and wasn't as efficient.

The entire team was God awful from the corners last year, which is a bit baffling.

Mainly the ones saying we shouldn't sign him, calling him dumb, etc etc.

Was it best choice? Probably not. However, I think Miles is a great person from everything he has shown and I have no worries about his character.

i don't think you're understanding... very few of us care about his choice to do whatever he does when he parties. I'm concerned about him doing stuff that can get him suspended or banned from the league if it is what it appeared to be, and it came back in a drug test.

Doesn't change my view of him as a player but damn if I'm not a little nervous that I'll see Woj tweet out that Miles is suspended indefinitely for a failed drug test in the next few days. If this is some Tyreke Evans situation that pretty much sends us back to rebuilding mode trying to find a second star for LaMelo. Whole situation is **** stupid and everyone here is rightfully going to grill him for it.

https://hoopshype.com/salaries/players/

Using this site to look at what individual players are making big picture I think it is very unlikely Bridges gets full 5 year Max of 173 million or 34.6 AAV

If that was case he would be making more than Tatum, Booker, Towns, Simmons, Embiid, Jokic, Ingram, Mitchell and Bam.

I think he falls more close to the tier of guys making around 23-27 million of Jaylen Brown, John Collins, Derozan, Draymond, Jaren Jackson Jr, Julius Randle types.... My offer if I am hornets 4/105 (26.5 AAV) which puts him just under Jaylen and JJJ but ahead of Collins and Draymond. Or I would offer him slightly more 5 year deal at 5/140 (28 AAV) but last season is TO.

This is still a good bit more than guys who signed deals recently like Mikal Bridges (4/90), Aaron Gordon (4/92), Jarrett Allen (5/100), Lonzo Ball (4/80) and Terry Rozier (4/97).

Hornets have always paid above market value. I sincerely doubt Miles gets anything less than 5 years / 155 million.

I read Atton was asking 5years 135 million. Terry is getting around 100 ,,4 years .Bridges didn't make all nba or the all star team. I am guessing 5 years 120 low end No more than 5 years 130 million

Miles Bridges, PF, Charlotte (restricted) $30,940,550

Bridges is a fascinating study this offseason because BORD$ says he’s worth close to the max, but it seems unlikely his price will get quite that high due to his restricted status and the apparent lack of other suitors.

Even potential offers-sheet spoilers like San Antonio or Detroit seem to have their eyes more focused on other targets; they could return to Bridges later, but having their money on ice while Charlotte waits to match (and then likely, inevitably does) is a significant deterrent … especially in a market where free agency has played out with a speed that is remarkable (some would even say “unfathomable” given the rules).

Where that leads is likely a four- or five-year deal to return to Charlotte in the $25 million a year range. If so, the Hornets will have some interesting decisions to make further down the roster as they try to skirt the luxury tax.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Shams stating that Miles will likely get a max or near max offer sheet and that we will be hesitant to match if it is indeed a max offer.

Did he say who was going to offer it?

Losing Miles Bridges to keep Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward is Season 2 of the Losing Kemba Walker to keep Nic Batum show.

This is all I could see thanks to the pay wall.

Rival executives expect Hornets restricted free agent Miles Bridges to command a maximum — or near-max — deal in July, and sources said there’s hesitancy from Charlotte to match a max sheet. Bridges had a breakout season in 2021-22, averaging 20.2 points, seven rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. 27 mins ago – via Shams Charania @ The Athletic

But most these reports are just mind games.

Losing coach and then our 2nd best player in 2 week time period might really sour fans, LaMelo, future coach on this franchise. Mitch and MJ need to pull it together, because right now they look lost.

Indeed. Extremely important that the organization bounces back from this coaching debacle in a strong manner.

They're mutually exclusive and not at all the point of the conversation. They could full max him and the only concern would be luxury tax.

It's wholly based upon whether or not Miles is worth a max contract, which he isn't. That leads them to the difficult decision of hamstringing themselves for the sake of keeping a fringe all-star around, or trading a guy who may or may not have more upward trajectory

I really go back and forth. I agree, a max could be a bit steep for Miles. Not a ridiculous overpay, but a moderate one. If you're paying him that much you're expecting that he can be a bonafide second option on a team that's going far into the playoffs... which, we'll see if he's that guy. It's certainly a ton of money.

On the other hand, good luck selling LaMelo on the future of this team if you let our second best player and his favorite running mate walk. I simply think they have to match him, regardless of what he gets. I wonder if we could pair one of these draft picks with Hayward to get him off the books.
