Who cares if an individual player did this or that? Isn't there a separate forum for player comparisons?

It's a team game, and for 24 minutes--50% of the game-- Rob Williams dominated on the inside. If the Timelord is healthy, Tatum, Brown and Smart don't have to be great-- just good. And with little or no inside scoring, GS has to shoot lights out from beyond the arc to win a game.

Not great, but to be fair he didn't even play in the 4th quarter of Game 2 because they were so far ahead, largely due to Steph being awesome through three quarters.

True. But that also means he was -30 in the 4th quarter between just 2 games

Also, sorry for the naughty word in this tweet but Ime Udoka is an absolute gangster and I love him.

Aren't the Celtics undefeated in the last 15 games or something like that when Tatum drops 7+ assists?

I don't think Tatum is on the same tier as the top superstars in the league today, but I think folks just don't understand the lack of any playmaking around him. If Tatum had a good PG or even a point forward playing with him, he'd look so much better.

Again, he's not of the caliber of Luka or Giannis or Jokic or KD or Lebron where the entire system can be designed around them, but he's at the very top of that next tier with Embiid and much better than Booker/Mitchell.

EDIT: Just dawned on me that a Scottie Barnes/Tatum combo would be an absolutely amazing pairing.

Yeah JT's playmaking is soooo much better now than it was even earlier this season. It wasn't that he didn't want to pass the ball before, he just wasn't great at it.

There's been a lot of focus on how making Smart the point guard has helped us so much. And on defense it's def true.

But on offense Tatum plays point just as much as Smart does. And he's been great in that role, especially considering he's never really done it before and the stakes are so high now. Add in the defense and he's an elite all around player, regardless of differences in where fans might rank him. And he's been in the playoffs so many times I think people forget he's barely 24 and still learning and improving.

Kudos to the Celtics. They have shown much more urgency than my lazy Warriors.

I nearly broke the TV when they missed box outs after box outs.

Yeah. Off the top of my head and basing this on absolutely no statistical evidence, Steph has never really been the guy that grinds out a few buckets to stem the tide of an opponent's run. The big wings/old school bigs are typically the guys you throw the ball to in the post/wing to get to the free throw line and slow down the opponent's momentum. He's more the guy that catalyzes the Warriors for a 5 minute period that stretches the lead from 5 to 15. If the Warriors offense is in a funk, its hard for him to re-ignite it individually.

How so?

The Celtics clearly have the physical edge in this series.

Not minimizing the effort that Boston is playing with but so far in this series the difference has been athleticism and size.

Brown, Tatum, Timelord and to a lesser extent Smart are just outmatching GSW badly with their combo of height / strength / athleticism. Even Al is likely more athletic than any big GSW is fielding. Its really noticeable.

Robert Williams is the guy every team should want at the 5 unless you have Joker or Joel - insane athletically, elite switchability, hustles his ass off, plays within his role / limitations, premier rim protector, knows how to pass. Just the consumate elite role player whos defensive presence is All NBA.

His advanced metrics have always been drool worthy, his On/Off this year bonkers and the guy is only due 10 / 11 /12 /13 over the next 4 years. That the type of steal contract that opens so much money for other parts of the roster because the guy when healthy is easily a 20M talent.

ya im usually on the players side with this stuff, but its honestly getting ridiculous. A crown chanting "F U" is too much now? Do they not know what business theyre in? If the fans are this invested and this passionate, it's good for them.

Wait till these dudes start getting paid 60 mill/year. Theyre gonna want the fans to act like it's golf and just lightly clap when a play is made.

I'd missed this, but Forsberg points out Rob played the entire 4th quarter, garbage time aside.

That's when GS scored 11 points in 10 minutes.

Nah, it's a great chant to teach all the kids in the crowd, which is probably how the crowd learned it in the first place when they were kids. Keep that tradition going!
