I'd probably do that trade if the Jazz plan on running it back with Gobert and Mitchell.

What's the view on Bojan here? Any chance the Jazz try to move him and get value since he is an expiring?
What would be the expectation on trade value?

I think he's very much on the block, but that's just me. Makes sense though. Not sure what to expect in return, I guess it also depends if the Jazz plan on blowing things up or try to be competitive for another season. If we're trying to be competitive, I'm not sure what to expect in return. We need his scoring and shooting ability, so we'll have to get someone like that back. Maybe a less offensively talented wing with better defense? I doubt we'll move him for cap space or for picks, since I don't think we'll get any.

I really like his fit on the Celtics to give us another offensive option that we clearly need, especially seeing the inconsistency of the offense in the playoffs. I would be happy to do filler (Theis + anyone with a 5-6M salary the Celtics can get with the TPE -- perhaps a cheap defensive wing?) + Nesmith (probably worth an early second at best) + a future first. Not sure how that makes sense without a third party if the Jazz want to continue competing (unless a possible Gobert trade leaves a need for a decent center in Theis), but is it enticing enough from a value perspective for the Jazz? If only Bojan's salary fit in the Fournier TPE, the Celtics could have offered cap relief but Bojan makes $2m more

I think value-wise it's not a bad offer. I think Theis may fair better defensively than Gobert or Whiteside when teams try to make him guard the perimeter, though his contract, while isn't bad, is a bit too long imho. He will certainly give us a bit more versatility on defense than doubling down on Gobert and Whiteside's size all the time. I don't know much about Nesmith but the Jazz could maybe flip him or just not exercise their team option and save some money if they don't want him, or they could keep him if they think he's worth a roster spot. A future first, even if it's in the mid-high 20s is still an asset this team needs, and not a bad return for a 33-year old player on his last year of his deal.

Melton and Brooks for Bojan and 2 future conditional 1sts?

Gobert/O'Neale/Brooks/Mitchell/Melton is solid defensively

Dillon? I doubt it. Or maybe not though. Bane showed out for the team when Brooks was injured so maybe Memphis might consider having a more efficient and less ball dominant replacement. Would love to add Kyle Anderson or Konchar if possible

Although some rumors swirling that a deal for Gobert to Memphis is possible

I think we are stuck with Conley on his contract, and that probably means we need to move Clarkson if a retool is in order. Conley gets shifted to sixth man, where he'd be an asset (just not at his salary) and Mitchell becomes the starting point guard. I think you aggregate Royce with him and see if you can return an expiring with a chance to play a bit. I think Will Barton could make some sense for both teams. Denver gets two rotation players instead of one to help alleviate the issues they've had with injuries while having some versatility to put out a similar caliber scorer in Clarkson, or a slightly better defender in Royce. Utah gets someone who can score but isn't a total sieve on defense and is bigger than Clarkson.

TLDR: minor trade, but I like Clarkson + O'neale for Barton + filler (hopefully JaMychal Green)

Rotation becomes:
Gobert/Azubuike
Bogdanovic/Green/Gay
House/Barton/Bogdanovic
Barton/Alexander-Walker/Mitchell
Mitchell/Conley/Butler

Still some trades that would need to be made, but it would be a start.

BleacherReport said Conley is going to have multiple suitors this off-season, I think he might have some value left. The problem with Conley has been his size with Mitchell, he needs a 6’5” or taller shooting guard to be effective on O & D.

Hey guys, Nets fan here. I freely admit, Brooklyn is the 3rd member in this deal, which primarily revolves around Zion for Gobert. Still, I think the cost-controlled prospects and financial relief add value to the deal. Here it is:

https://fanspo.com/nba/s/nets/trades/5ggH3M3--jc8TX/nets-pelicans-and-jazz

Brooklyn trades Curry/Thomas/Sharpe for Valanciunas/O'Neale/Gay
The Nets leverage their guard depth, TPE's and cheap youth, to strengthen the frontcourt. Jonas adds interior toughness, and can stretch the floor. Royce is a versatile defender and improves the flow of his team's offense. Rudy is a reclamation project.
Irving, Harris, Durant, Simmons, Valanciunas
Mills, Brown, O'Neale, Gay, Claxton

New Orleans trades Valanciunas/Williamson/Hayes for Gobert/Thomas/Sharpe
The Pelicans swing for the fences, with a DPOY to complement their potent offense.
Graham, McCollum, Ingram, Jones, Gobert
Alvarado, Thomas, Murphy, Nance, Sharpe

Utah trades Gobert/O'Neale/Gay for Curry/Williamson/Hayes
The Jazz reshape the franchise around Spyda, emphasizing athleticism and floor spacing.
Conley, Mitchell, Bogdanovic, Williamson, Hayes
Curry, Clarkson, NAW, Hernanogomez, Azubuike

So, as a Jazz fan, would you do it?

It's completely unrealistic from the Hornets' point of view....... As tantalizing as Zion is, I think the Jazz would be looking at draft picks and cap space in a Gobert trade..

Hope so, but I'll believe it when I see it, haha.

Agree, someone with length. I really want Ayo Dosunmu. He's 6-4 with a 6-8 wingspan, is a great perimeter defender, hyper-efficient, and a good playmaker.

Interesting trade proposal, but I wouldn't do it as Zion has been out of shape and hurt his entire career yet wants the brinks truck to back up to his house this next season. Hayes also will get paid. Jazz fans have been complaining about perimeter defense and this trade makes things worse. I would be interested in getting Claxton from the Nets, though. Versitile defender with untapped offensive potential, imo.

Saw that scenario where Gobert is sent to the Nets for Simmons, Claxton, and 23rd pick

Think it's fair, noh?

I've read a few things over the past couple weeks regarding the Hawks being a potential trade partner for Gobert.

For the record, I'm on team Gobert. I also firmly agree that the team giving up the best player rarely "wins" the trade (unless you luck into a draft pick you traded for working out down the road, but you can't count on that).

Still, the Hawks have some pieces that wouldn't be the worst idea in the world, if the Jazz are, in fact, wanting to trade the big man. All trades involve Clint Capella, who is a good starting center that defends and gives a bit more mobility to the position that Rudy. He also has 3 more years on his contract, so he's not a short term rental. All trades also include the Hawks #16 pick. That pick would be needed to make any option work, IMO. The Jazz need a youth injection, and #16 would be a nice get. So, it's just a matter of who else would help the team best.

Trade idea #1: Clint Capella + John Collins + #16 pick for Rudy Gobert + Jared Butler or Udoka Azubuike
This trade adds length & athleticism to the Jazz frontcourt. I've always liked Collins, who at 6'9" (with great hops), can also knock it down from deep. He has 4 years on his contract at about $23m per. The downside is this would wrap up $41m in these 2 players for the next few years, and also doesn't address backcourt or wing length, so that would have to be done elsewhere. But it would allow Royce to go to the bench and hopefully the Jazz could make another move to get bigger/longer/better D by using Conley or Bogey as bait. I think the Jazz would have to give up a young asset to make this work, hence the addition of Butler or Azubuike. (I'd prefer to keep Butler, but would understand if he needed to be added to bring in Collins.)

Trade idea #2: Clint Capella + Kevin Huerter (+ Delon Wright?) + #16 pick for Rudy Gobert
The idea here is to add guard length, and without quite the massive salary hit of Collins ($23m). Hueter is a 6'7" shooter, who could be a starter (not ideal) or great off the bench, especially if Clarkson was moved elsewhere. He is also on a long term contract (4 years, about $16.5m each). I also like the idea of potentially adding Delon Wright to the deal on a short-term sign & trade, if Delon would be open to coming back to Utah, where he played college ball. A 6'5" versatile guard off the bench would fill a need. No loss of Butler/Azubuike in this trade.

Trade idea #3: Clint Capella + Bogdon Bogdonovic, (+ Delon Wright?) + #16 pick + future 2nd round pick for Rudy Gobert
Oh come on, who doesn't want to see Bojan & Bogdon on the same team, right!? Very similar to the Huerter trade, this adds a bigger wing (6'6"), on a non-expiring contract (2 years, $18m), who could start or come off the bench. Bogdon is more of a proven commodity than Huerter, but is also a little older (23 vs 29) & had some knee issues last season. I'd still like to see Wright somehow added to the pot, in the scenario. Add a Hawks future 2nd round pick, due to the knee & age, just to make it a little more enticing. Also, no loss of Butler/Azubuike in this trade.

^^ Remember that Jared Butler was a potential lottery pick before his heart condition concern dropped him in the draft. I would give up Dok in a heartbeat for anything of value. Conversely, I would keep Butler to see how he pans out.
