Boston got nearly Swept last year by the Nets in r1 with no Brown. They made it to the ECF the year prior, and the finals the year after...I'm sure theres something I could say about that correlation and how Brown is the difference between mediocrity and excellence, but I won't, because it ultimately doesn't matter, just like Steph Curry's fMVP chances if his team doesn't win...

Im not a huge Curry fan, I think he's been the best player in the series so thats why you get FMVP chatter, but its meaningless because nobodys giving it to a losing player

How are people surprised the refs are letting home teams play really aggressive defense and not calling ticky tack fouls?

If you want to go to the rim, someone is going to bump you or hit your hand. Its every drive - BOS and GSW. If you want points at the basket make an excellent pass, post up someone small like Curry or White, or go to the rim and take a little punishment.

Tatum and Brown have been hit WAY more than Curry, because they are going at the basket.

Exactly. If Celtics win by being the better team which doesn’t look unlikely currently it goes to their best/most influential player. If Curry can’t do enough to bring the title to GSW then he isn’t the FMVP. As you say this is pretty much the LeBron thing.

Definitely one of the more interesting threads this season - over 80 pages in length and only about 5 pages worth of actual basketball discussion!

This is going to be a shorter turnaround then many of the other games. We will see how that effects hurt players Curry, RWIII. Horford has struggled in some of these in prior situations as well, Celtics are the younger team, should probably favor them.

Draymond played so bad last night, he brought his kid to the podium.

This may be recency bias but I feel like we’re witnessing some all time bad manufactured drama this series.

Can we all hope that we get an all time classic game 4 after all of these blowouts? The NBA needs a close game.

Don’t have a horse in the race, just want to see a competitive and fair series between both teams, the officiating from last night’s game was very disappointing.

LOL. No horse in the race? Clearly you do, based on the evidence you just posted. Why not post the bad officiating on both sides?

The entire Boston's starters are banged up after playing Bucks,Heat and Nets......you got a little Curry "injured" on the other team. Let's play on. Too much drama makes the NBA weak.

Doesn't stop you from whining that the "entire Boston starters" are banged up. So much drama--sounds kind of weak.

The Scott foster stats isn't even true. Celtics are 3-1 with foster these playoffs and 17-19 overall in the playoffs iirc. Someone just made up some bull and it's even made it into The Athletic podcasts... its dumb as hell. Only CP3 has a reason to whine about foster lol

The thread should be split per game.
I should be on Lacob payroll...

This is blasphemous probably, but do we think Tatum has been the best Celtic player during these finals? I feel like just from watching, not paying attention to the boxscore, Brown has been more consistent and provided the spark the Celtics needed whenever it got tight during these games.

Fans, especially Boston fans, have this weird obsession with wanting Jaylen Brown to be the actual star of the Celtics. Not sure why.
In Game 3, Jaylen scored 17 points in the first quarter and 8 points the rest of the game. He scored 2 in the 3rd quarter when the Celtics were struggling, and 2 in the 4th when the Celtics went on a run to bury the Dubs. In Game 2, Jaylen had 13 points in the first quarter, and 4 points the rest of the way. In these two games, Jaylen scored 68% of his points in the 1st quarter, not when the game was tight and the Celtics needed a spark. Quite the opposite of your impression, supposedly built on "just watching."

Jaylen has indeed scored more points (68 to 66) on better efficiency this series so far. But the consistency narrative is not in touch with the world of facts.

Jaylen is a star player. He might not be more talented than Tatum, but he's closer than a lot of people want to believe, and certainly capable of outshining Tatum in a series, as he is right now so far.... Great "problem" to have lol.

Anytime u give a star player 2 fouls in the 1st quarter i know which way the refs are going. They want to extend the series. Game four imo will favor the warriors.

Yep, Celtics have to play a perfect game to overcome the refs wanting to even up the series tonight. Wish they would just let the teams play, best team wins.
