I mean it also doesn't help that Jaylen Brown was burning him off the dribble repeatedly last night.
He needs to make his presence felt defensively period.

his Drtg is pretty terrible and probably go down after g3.
Basketball-reference DRtg has nothing to do with actual DRtg. It tries to calculate per possession impact out of boxscore elements, which is horrible idea with defense.
Not surprised at all.
He mouths off like he's a top 5 player and performs like the worst player on the court routinely at times.
I'm not high on him at all anymore.
I honestly think he's become somewhat of a liability.
Now watch him redeem himself in game 4 as I say all this.

I agree, he's washed and needs to retire already

Matches up with the eye test.
The Warriors completely CRUMBLE whenever Curry has to sit during the finals.

cant help but wonder if the warriors woulda been better off having a young lamelo ball on the floor controlling the offense in those minutes.

Offensively yes, but defensively the thought of him and Poole sharing a backcourt is the stuff of nightmares.

probably would have had to make a trade with a backcourt of steph/gp2/klay/poole/melo. lost a possibility at a valuable asset at worst i guess

Life is so cruel. It sucks that the NBA hasn't stepped in to take care of these ABA players when it would cost them almost nothing.
Sucks for the NBA that everyone is looking at them (including me) to be the social safety net these people desperately needed as if corporations are where that should be coming from. This country is so backwards.

Sad. It's a microcosm of the capitalist system. On the one hand, it's created more progress and quality of life for the average person than anything tried in history. On the other hand, it by nature produces a few winners that make more money than you can spend in multiple generations but even more losers that slip through the cracks and need to ask for gas money. And you see this happening within the NBA itself. Some of these guys were just born too early, before the NBA exploded in popularity due to technology making wide global distribution possible.

This is also why im a fan of the max contract as it exists right now. Some people wan't to do away with it so superstars get like 80 million a year and have to fill out the rest of the team with what remains to create more "parity" im good. I'd rather see more players earn more money even if superstars are suppressed somewhat. I mean Lebron just became a billionaire and future generations of Nba players will dwarf his playing salary so they'll be fine and the league will be fine.

Re: 2021-22 NBA Season Discussion
there is a narrarive going on that this has been a boring series cause all games are blowouts that makes me think people are overly focusing on the final boxscore
the game 2 was a blowout, but game 1 and 3 were decided in the fourth quarter and were competitice until the last 2-3 minutes, hell the game 1 had a crazy fourth quarter comeback, as far from a boring game finished early as it gets
also that people dont remember how few games, whether it be a finals series or a regular season game, actually go to these last "defined in last play" kind of scenarios
the 2016 finals are considered memorable although 6 of 7 games ended with a margin between 10-30 points , for example
the 2015 one actually had 4 of 6 games defined by less than 10 points and nobody remembers it as the more closely fought of the two
the 90 finals had 4 of 5 games defined by six points or less, yer everybody remembers it as a boring finals where portland was humillated
in practice, the overall closeness of the games has surprisingly little correlation to how memorable series end up being

memorability is definitely a different factor, 2017 g1-g6 was not really entertaining from a closeness standpoint. but the overall storyline of a 3-1 comeback, lebron/kyrie heroics, and g7 add to the memorability
this series has just felt more run-focused. quarter by quarter scoring per a reddit post:
Code: Select all
Q1 - Celtics: 91 (28, 30, 33) - Warriors: 85 (32, 31, 22)
Celtics +6
Q2* - Celtics: 83 (28, 20, 35) - Warriors: 77 (22, 21, 34)
Celtics +6
Q3 - Celtics: 63 (24, 14, 25) - Warriors: 106 (38, 35, 33)
Warriors +43
Q4 - Celtics: 87 (40, 24, 23) - Warriors: 47 (16, 20, 11)
Celtics +40
first halves have been reasonably close i think but the story of the 2nd half throughout this entire series has usually just been one team dominating at a time. and i think most fans prefer back and forth games.
i found g3 entertaining fwiw, best game of the series so far IMO.

Re: 2021-22 NBA Season Discussion
feels like celtics first quarter defense on steph has been the best of the series so far. still dropped 12 points but it felt more like "well that's just steph curry what can you do" to me versus some other points in the series where they made it too easy for him to get open looks

start of the 2nd quarter with steph off of the floor and in the first three minutes, tatum goes 0/3 w/ 2 TO and poole hits two threes. dreadful start to the quarter for JT

Re: 2021-22 NBA Season Discussion
i feel half way on my theory that bucks would have been warriors kryptonite that i discussed with doc
on one end their size has helped them in the boards and to score inside vs warriors, and their closed paint and good individial perimeter defenders have made life hard to non curry players
on the other end they have not been able to stop curry from scoring a flutter of 3's on them as they prioritize the paint which was a doc point about buks defense approach and they have been unable to slow down warriors O as much as i expected

Re: 2021-22 NBA Season Discussion
curry has been by far the best pkayer this series
but rob williams and brown may honestly be second amd third
it feels like boston has like 4 of the 6 best players im the series but warriors has the best player

Re: 2021-22 NBA Season Discussion
big shots from poole, being able to carry the offense without curry on the floor prevents it from crumbling as it tends to do. had 8 straight points
