As for Curry isn't he viewed as the best pg of all time? Or atleast top 3. What more can be said. And that's regardless of the outcome of this series.

It would do a lot for resume to win a finals mvp as it’s one of the main criticisms when compared to other all time greats

I think he was robbed of FMVP in 2015, and I count that year as a FMVP year for him.

One of the great robberies in the history of the NBA, along with LAL-DET game 6, LAL-SAC game 6 and HOU-GSW (2018) game 7.

some would agree with that but at the end of the day it’s still a talking point, winning this one would put that to rest

I would say the story should be that the Warriors are in fact missing someone that can take the heat off Curry and can dominate outside of the system as well.

Looks like they got killed on the glass and gave up a ton of second chance opportunities. They didn’t bring the hustle. Their offense is the best in the league so that ain’t the issue but if they aren’t rebounding after defensive stops they aren’t going to get the scoring opportunities and will just give the other team more chances to score.

I would argue that things change depending on your matchup. Against this Celtics team, they won’t have the best offense in the league. They have effectively stopped Curry in the 4th quarter, and the rest of the offense is inconsistent or they are liabilities on the defensive end. They need a two way player that can fit in the system while also being able to get the team a bucket in isolation.

Are you sure? Warriors with 55 rebounds tonight vs. 42 for the Celtics. Celtics with only 97 points. Completely different story than the other night when they were killing them on rebounds especially 2nd chance boards. You give any team multiple possessions in a row and they will find a way to punish you. Only 11 off boards for the Cs tonight and 16 for the Warriors. Limit their second chance opportunities and they just aren't that good offensively.

He's underrated, 2 more wins and he ties LeBron for finals, without all the lame ass team hopping or drama.

He definitely is in my view.

When people regularly say KD's a better player than him, or rank him historically above Steph, then you know he's underrated.

Curry's one of the 10 greatest players of all-time. One of the most dominant players in NBA history. The best player of his generation with or after LeBron.

He's the second best point guard of all time, and a top 10-15 player all time. That's not underrated at all.

He's a top 15 player minimum, and he's easily the second best point guard of all-time, though some people don't view him that way.

I think the more interesting conversation is, would he be viewed in the Magic-Bird tier (top 3-6) if KD hadn't joined the Warriors to steal all the attention? Because the Warriors were still overwhelming favorites with Curry healthy and without KD. I suspect he would. Then you add the fact that the lack of FMVP is commonly held against him when he was robbed of FMVP in 2015.

Steph is closer to Bird, Magic, Shaq, Wilt than he is to KD in my book. That's where I find him to be incredibly underrated from a historical perspective. A lot of circumstances went wrong for his legacy along the way.

Not if GS does what it should do and win at home in game 5.

Celtics needed this game desperately. They are trying to take down 3 time champions and could have had them on the ropes. Not only did they choke this game away, but they also just gave GS home court advantage again.

3 times Champs know how to win and Tatum/Brown will have a whole off-season to think about how they gave away (or allowed Curry to steal) an opportunity to be up 3-1 against the champs. NBA is not for the faint-hearted.

Not that it should matter.

He and LeBron were far and away the best players in the 2015 Finals.

That's what I mean when I refer to these awards as perception-based. They are heavily narrative-driven. They are not necessarily reflective of facts and they shouldn't be used or presented as evidence of or reference for greatness without some critical thinking.

The Celtics should probably be more aggressive on Steph. They need to trap him and force the Draymonds, Wiggens and Looneys of the world to decide the outcome. Maybe that's where Poole becomes valuable as a player who can handle the ball, though he's not the best passer.

It remains underrated how bold Ty Lue was in the 2016 Finals with his trapping defense, and other aspects of his gameplan. He put up a coaching clinic and he got ridiculed for it for supposedly being carried by Bron. Makes my blood boil.

Yup and if not for the Celtics getting historically hot from 3 in the 4th quarter and Horford turning into Reggie Miller in the 4th Warriors could be up 3-1

Celtics shot 40 percent from 3 tonight at home and still lost. Not a good sign

Brown carried them...Tatum does have a lot to think about. If he had Brown's Killer Instinct they would have ran away with this game.

2016 hurt his legacy too as far as getting deep in the top 10. If they win, this finals recoups a lot. Even Magic was Tragic at one time.

It was assumed Lue was a puppet coach. I think that's been fully dispelled now.
