What a strange debate. Even if they already know who they will take they will invite all top picks to collect data on them for future trades/FA. We gonna invite Paolo, Sharpe, Ivey & co too.

I'd be tempted to trade down for the 2 and 12 if we could get Johnny Davis. He's the same size as Booker but he had efficiency problems late last season. I think he just took some bad shots because his team needed points.

I just don't think OKC does this just to move up one spot. I could see them offering 2 and 30 but not 12. I think they will sit back on draft night and see what we do. Trading back with Houston I could see but do we do that?

Best fits according to Vecenie based on pick, team, and realistic availability.

1. Jabari - Orlando Magic - Orlando needs shooting and has a glut of guards. They need a high level scorer that can stretch the floor.

2. Chet - OKC Thunder - Timeline and less pressure to develop. They need a centerpiece next to SGA and Giddey. He can bring the defense they lack.

3. Paolo - Houston Rockets - Orlando doesn't have the spacing to compliment Paolo's game. OKC doesn't have the defenders to make up for his shortcomings. They also have the playmakers already. Houston pairing Green and Paolo together could be potentially great.

I like Jabari, but betting lines are not going to weigh on Weltman any more than where somebody played in HS. I think Weltman has the fortitude, for better or worse, to make an unexpected choice. I wouldn't be completely shocked if, based on private workouts and conversations, the pick ends up being a guy like Ivey, Sharpe, or Murray (with significant additional assets in a trade). Jabari is my pick, but I'll admit he doesn't scream "star" like Ivey or Sharpe. I understand "bust" is also a lot more likely with those two. It's not inconceivable that Keegan Murray and Jabari have very similar NBA games...just saying.

...RealGMers get swept up in public opinion a lot easier than NBA execs. Here we are, every damn day, posting and posting with no new info - it's very easy to imagine how little REAL info we actually have...I would say most sportswriters aren't even that far ahead of us these days, there's only a handful that have any real access to inside info, most are clickbait generators in their mom's basement. There's a reason WOJ doesn't post constantly - he only runs with real verifiable info. Most of these guys are eking out a living doing what we do for free...just BS for our own amusement.

Random thoughts.

Our first three #1 picks all took us to the NBA finals (I'm counting Penny as one of them because we used a #1 to trade for him).

Next year, we'll have two #1 picks starting on our roster. I don't believe we've ever had two #1's on our roster before??

If chosen #1, Chet will be arguably the most polarizing pick ever in the history of #1 NBA picks. Regardless, broadcasters will be talking about him nonstop for years to come, thanks to his size and high draft status.

Reading between the lines, although Jake Fischer says everything about Jabari being thr "safest, safest, safest" bet to go #1, and Paolo and his csmp believe theyre not being considered for #1, he also says something important:

"Everyone is expecting it to go in that 1,2,3 order (Bari/Chet/Paolo/), so far; it could change. It's definitely....I'm not gonna say anything at all, specific, but there's definitely a thing I heard of late that is making me a bit skeptical that it is going to go that 1,2,3."

Add that to KOC saying not all execs think Jabari is a lock during a spaces (?) session last week, and it makes you go hmmm.

Add Vegas odds changing.

The snippets this week on Givony, Vecenie, Ringer, and SI mocks will be interesting.
