There will be a lot of different opinion, especially because of his injuries these last two years.
But for me, I won't trade him alone. Maybe including in a trade for the right player(s) we would really need to improve, but I would prefer to keep him and put another player instead of him.
He's a winner and we need him, especially with this contract

A player who can still give a lot and has range is Serge Ibaka.
He has been barely used bu the Bucks, but he is 6-10 and can shoot the three and defend amaller guys.

Mid first round pick (or protected future pick) + league average starter.

Ibaka is cooked, he barely saw (earned) the court when the Bucks had 0 bigs available besides Giannis. Theoretically, he should've been be a perfect fill-in for Lopez.

I also feel it's very fair to give up some offense like JC, Bogi, etc if we can move the needle from 26th on D to top 10. We can afford to go from 2nd offense to 10th.
Lu Dort
Would trade JC, Bogi, or Huerter. Would require a big extension but I would do it cause he's such a valuable defender and would be a great long term pairing with Trae.
Ben Simmons
Would trade JC plus a pick or two
Brogdon
Gallo, Charlotte pick, this year's first
Alex Caruso
Huerter or Bogi
I think Simmons and Brogdon could help in the secondary ball handler division and help Trae learn to be off the ball. I could see Brogdon bring like Van Fleet.
I'm really not a fan of J Grant at 28M. He's a better defender than JC but that's about it to me and will be on worse contract
Lu Dort would be an excellent option for us but I don't believe we need to give up what you've suggested to acquire him. I doubt OKC would want them anyways. A couple of first round picks would be ideal and to match salary. OKC certainly won't want to give him a larger extension.

Agreed on what the poster proposed...too much for Dort.HMFFL wrote:saloonyk8 wrote:Good discussion. I was thinking here's the best potential targets in terms of defense that MIGHT be available. I've ranked them in terms of best fit.

IIRC, the most OKC can sign him to on an extension is something like 4yr/$56 million

Re: Atlanta Hawks Official Trade Ideas Thread Part 3
This might be my favorite trade suggestion so far this off season:
The AthleticMarc Stein wrote:Both Sacramento and Portland are widely expected to give serious consideration to trading the No. 4 and No. 7 overall picks, respectively, if they can concoct appealing win-now swaps.Chris Kirchner wrote:A deal that could potentially work would be Portland guard Josh Hart and the No. 7 pick in this year’s draft for John Collins and No. 16.
Hart isn’t the sexiest trade option out there for the Hawks, but he’s the kind of guard who would thrive next to Young as a secondary playmaker who plays good defense and has the positional flexibility to play both the two and three.

Hart and #7 to SAC and Sabonis to ATL. Jamaal, I think that you've spent so much time and effort in scouting the draft that you have draft pickitis. Hawks need to win now, not develop draft picks. JJ looks really good. Decent floor, high ceiling and he got 5.5 mins a game in 22 games.

Sometimes there are other things behind the scenes.
Yes, they signed Ibaka to play for López.
But Mike BDH is a strange coach with a short rotation who did not even used Portis much two years ago, although they ended up winning the ring...

Not much, unfortunately. He has a trade kicker for this season, a player option for the season that follows, and is now coming off a tough injury.
I think he'll be worth more for the Hawks as a bench scorer than in a trade for now. I think they'll explore trading him next summer after he opts in.
The tougher question is, "What could Huerter fetch in a trade?"

OG Anunoby
https://hoopshype.com/lists/raptors-rumors-og-anunoby-fred-vanvleet-gary-trent-jr-thaddeus-young-chris-boucher/
Scotto: The Toronto Raptors are not looking to trade OG Anunoby, league sources told HoopsHype. For Toronto to consider trading Anunoby, it would have to be a substantial trade package for the soon-to-be 25-year-old forward along the lines of a noteworthy upgrade at center or a top-10 draft pick.
Toronto has been linked to several centers such as Rudy Gobert, Myles Turner, Jusuf Nurkic, Jakob Poeltl, Nicolas Claxton, etc.
With the emergence of Scottie Barnes, Anunoby is Toronto’s best trade asset if the organization wants to acquire a true center and move Pascal Siakam to power forward and Barnes to small forward for more of a traditional lineup.

Toronto should move Anunoby, as you said, to have a more tipical S5.
We could offer Capela for Anunobu and then look for someone to play C for cheap or figure out a system with Collins at the 5.
I would also trade either Huerter or Bogdanovic, as none of them can play SF and lack some physical presence to play against real SFs. I like both of them, but I believe a different type of player is needed here.
I would try with a roster like this one:
YOUNG
LAVINE
HUNTER
ANUNOBY
COLLINS
---------------
XXXX
BOGDANOVIC
KNOX
OO
XXX

Hawks to put together big package for Rudy Gobert?
There has been plenty of talk among league personnel that some combination of Capela, John Collins, Kevin Huerter and the No. 16 pick could be routed to Utah for the three-time Defensive Player of the Year. – via Jake Fischer @ Bleacher Report

Half-serious suggestion:
Can we create a sticky to remind non-Hawks' fans how one spells Trae, Capela, and Okongwu?

Are we prepared as a team to not have shot blocking among our defensive weapons? It doesn't seem like an ideal path to success to remove such an important stat. Cap can be moved, sure, but I don't like the idea of not having solid shot blocking.Years90Suns wrote:HMFFL wrote:OG Anunoby

You guys understand that some combination does NOT mean for all the assets listed, right?

Indeed!
A yahoo article from May 5th indicated Capela, Huerter and #16 for Gobert.
Rumor is Jazz wants Hunter or OO, Hawks said no.
