You can't really rely on Scherzer either. He's been banged up several times the last few years. I thought that contract was a tremendous risk.
short terms high AAV contract are no risk to cohen...he has proven winning over money...we cut cano with a ton of money left on his deal because he wasn't helping us win. If for whatever reason scherzer deal is bad year 3....we will just spend to replace him.
Yeah... it's like a Steinbrenner scenario. I guess to fans it doesn't matter when the team will spend whatever it takes. You just gotta hope he's healthy for the playoffs. Still a bit much IMO.
not really concerned about scherzer to be honest he really hasn't had a history of injuries. Sure he had a dead arm last year but he knew he shouldn't be coming out of the bullpen on short rest like he used to do.
deGrom on the other hand is another story. Not sure what we can trust from him. But I am pretty confident Scherzer is going to be ready to go once he gets back from his oblique.
The good thing is we have one of the biggest divisional leads in history entering June...so unless the braves get really hot we can kind of take it slow with both guys...have them ready for most of august...ramp up in sept...and they should have plenty of bullets for the post season.
