Ballz wouldn't be sneaky about something like this, lol. So I think he's paid by Klutch to do their grassroots thing, with the way he keeps pushing Lebron, Rich Paul and Maverick Carter as owners/managers of the Lakers. All I gotta say to that is.... :vomit: :D

He does this all the time. My guess is he's a trolling clipper fan. That, or he lives nowhere near LA, which makes it very strange that he would care.

Outside longshot: He's actually Ballz trying some "grassroots" thing.

Either way....it's annoying, but sort of enjoyable. Every time things look really bleak......this guy turns up, and remind me that the clippers are a thing. That always puts a bad day in perspective. That, and he wants to build around Westbrook (he's convinced Phil wants that). That's entertainment enough.

Hate the Clippers.

Hate Balmer even more than I hate the Clippers.

Lived in Laurel Canyon since the mid-1960s and have seen and lived through both the "hippie-yuppy-nouveau riche-and-millennial eras" as well as the "Laker LA Sports Arena-Inglewood Forum-and-Staples/Crypto.com eras," too.

I will try to be less annoying (out of respect to the board).

I am, however, concerned about the malaise which has set into the Laker franchise. Jeanie either needs to clean house with the roster by trading away LeBron, AD, and Westbrook or go further all-in and completely turn the franchise over to LeBron and Klutch, whom she may already have a deal in place with.

Not sure that you hate the Clippers. But you be you. It's a board for peeps to say their piece, and you have every right to think what you want, and state it. Don't worry about what I think. It doesn't matter....I'm just a dude on here with no more information than you.

I just disagree with your take. You call it malaise, while I look at it as a failed swing for the fence. But swing for the fence it was....and at least there's that. The Lakers signed Lebron with promises. Right or wrong, the Lakers have kept their end of the bargain. We sold the farm for AD, and we sold the farm for Westbrook. All in. Lebron cannot look back and say we held back, and coulda done more. These are all things that the league see's and remembers. Massive failure that this year was....the brand, and the commitment to winning that we are known for is strong.

And when it's all said and done, if nothing else, we hoisted #17. Dallas had Dirk for 20 years and only hoisted 1. Boston got the big-3 and only hoisted 1. Where's Portland's title with Dame? Everyone calls Riley the great genius down in Miami.....where's his ring since Lebron left? Anyone talking about them living in the past??? People like to be harder on the Lakers, and that's fine. But don't forget the Utah's the Phoenix, the Dallas' of the world. Getting a chip ain't that easy. Giannis is gods gift to the world....he and Mil just got the one. Nobody calling them a failure....no malaise. Dallas ain't won in like 10-12 years. Nobody takes issue with that. Same with Boston. Portland...where's theirs? And on and on. You can take it for what it's worth....but we won a title going and getting Lebron. So as far as I'm concerned, the whole thing was worth it. And yet we didn't sit on our laurels. We went out and got a 3rd star. It's just too bad he's the embodiment of the "turd in the bowl".

Kilroy wrote:Yeah, I think the notion the Lakers FO are cheap because they live off the team and are afraid of losing money is kind of flawed... I'm pretty sure the Lakers are profitable even when they suck... They're still front page news, and they have massive media deals.

I also think the owners collective net worth is probably under-estimated and there are also a lot of them, which dilutes the estimation to some degree...

On top of that, I don't believe the narrative that Caruso for example wasn't retained because they were trying to limit salary. I think he wasn't retained because Klutch didn't want him retained, or rather wanted someone else more... This FO is going to fall on the sword for Klutch time every time... That's the agreement.

I could be wrong but I thought the local TV deal was predicated on eyeballs. I'm sure a few % there outstrips any savings from a lower payroll. When Bron and Davis etc. sell jerseys the owners get a cut.... when the shoes are Laker colors they get a cut.... Stars make them more than you'd guess is my thought.

While the owner group is better off that any of us I'm not sure the Buss family could keep the lifestyle up without the team performing well financially. I've read that Ad revenue will drop in the next deal across most sports with the NBA taking a larger drop. All traditional sports are losing the interest of the younger fans.

I think ownership has no rudder in terms of making decisions and moving on. I'm convinced the old man made his decision between Kobe and Shaq the summer Shaq decided to party on a bad toe.... That conviction and drive to rebuild after seems to be missing these days.

Yeah, Dr Buss took it personally. He hated not winning.
