Fwiw, this is missing a lot of workouts I’m guessing.

The Pistons are pretty quiet about who they are working out. It’s only got Dyson on this list, but we know they’ve also worked out Sharpe twice , Duren , Mathurin, Ivey , Murray

Thank you, that is good to know. I could not find where Duren or Murray had worked out other than what was on this list from a cursory search, so either the list is a bit out of date and/or teams are being quiet about some of their workouts. Still a bit fun to speculate based on where workouts have happened, but this introduces a huge caveat : )

I should correct myself, Dyson, Duren, Sharpe and Mathurin have worked out already, Ivey and Murray have upcoming workouts. But yeah, the Duren workout still hasn't be reported by any Pistons sources which is strange. The only reason its public is because Duren said it himself in the Blazers workout interview

ok, i'm just gonna say it. If the consensus top 4 is off the board, if I'm detroit i'm taking Sochan.

a) between the fact that detroit seems to be building a team of hard nosed p[layers who are tough, physical with an emphasis on defense, and the fact that the back court would be crowded with Sharpe (cade, sharpe, hayes, bey is a little crowded), I wouldn't take Sharpe. It's not like he's a cant miss top 5 guy anyways - obviously there's some question marks given the fact that he is going right from HS to pros and hasn't played a game since 2020-2021 season

b) since they are nowhere near being a contender. and most of their team is really young anyways, I would go with a guy (Sochan) who is maybe not as good as Murray but Sochan is younger and has higher ceiling.

Detroit needs more size. They need more shooting - Sochan shot 36% on catch and shoot 3's last season. That's really good for a freshman who played the whole season at age 18. He's gonna only get better as a shooter- his form is good, he's still so young and he's clearly a hard worker.

And you love what he brings with his energy and his defense, especially how versatile he is on D.

There, I said it. if the consensus top 4 are off the board, I'm taking Sochan if I'm Detroit.

While I agree that they shouldn't just draft Sharpe/Murray, I'd argue Mark Williams makes more sense there.

A Cade-Williams PnR is something you could build a good offence around, not to mention what Williams will do for their defence.

Williams is awesome.

I want Ivey, Sharpe, Dyson at 5.

Then trade Jerami Grant + Diallo or something for a pick that gets Williams plus filler. Williams and Cade would be so much fun to watch. Just brutalize teams that play small.

With Bey waiting to take 3s all day.

Looks 'skinny' for 250 lbs. Dude could legit be huge at 6'10" without shoes. Could have grown since start of season at Duke.

I'm not saying Paolo is guaranteed to be the best out of the top 3 (with #2 busting), but hell this year that could happen again easily.

We know Mark Williams measured 7 foot legit, 7'2" listed.

I don't doubt at all that Banchero's head height is 6'10", but the game is played with your arms. I suspect his standing reach is not great for 6'10".

I think it's the opposite. Jabari was 2nd in the NCAA in defense allowing 0.616 points per possession and he shot a very high rate when guarded. These skills will translate.

It's surprising to see that Keegan Murray has listed Khris Middleston as his NBA comparison.

Granted, some of that was due to his phenomenal rise from being a relatively unknown commodity to become a hot commodity, rather than purely a playing style comparison, but still interesting.

I remember Tatum he had it all in college the only thing I thought would hold him back was his athleticism but it really didn't. He looked stuck to the ground in college. Smith's lack of handle and getting to the hoop is a red flag imo. He almost seems like a 3 and d guy at the next level. Tatum was a much better prospect imo

It didn't look like Smith had a lot of room to drive at Auburn. Teams would pack the paint and if Jabari beat the first defender he had problems with the secondary defender.

I remember a lot of people not being high on Tatum. Jackson had the fro, an attitude, and was dunking on people. Fox had amazing speed and athletic ability. Fultz had all kinds of flash. Ball was the second coming of Penny Hardaway.

I'm not saying Smith is exactly like Tatum. Tatum is a 3 and Smith is a 4. Things they have in common is positional size, defense, and shooting.

There are some big questions as to whether Smith & Chet can be "the man" on their team. Seems like the safe choice for Orlando would be to just grab Paolo.
