We still absolutely need to find a big man with some defense inside. Can switch him in when the inside presence is needed.

And yea I really wish Lavine or Beal would just say the word. I’m 85% sure we’d take the cheap especially if Luka improves his stamina so he can be effective on defense and improve his shooting.

That's a very good point.
I hope we fill the spots with serviceable role players.

I looked forward to seeing how Christian Woods plays for us. He's solid in the frontcourt and I expect Jason Kidd & Luka to get the best out of him.

He's expiring and I can only assume a solid pay increase will occur on his next extension as long as he's healthy and productive. Current Salary: $14,317,459

Theo and Dragic, TPMLE (hopefully Hartenstein) should complete the roster
Brunson/Goran/Frank
Bullock/Dinwiddie/Green
Luka/THJ/Theo
DFS/Maxi/Bertans
Hartenstein/Wood/Powell

This is a nice, value trade. Christian Wood for the 26th pick in the draft and table scraps to match salaries. The odds of the 26th pick being as good as Wood are very low.

Boban Marjanovic, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, Marquese Chriss - Who are we going to play now when the team is either up 20 or down 20 and there is 2 minutes left in the game?

4/77 is his max extension in 6months... I think if he goes to FA he's entitled to more, but he won't turn down an extension if he's offered it. He hasn't had a contract close to that with job security.

4/77 is basically Bertanz money

So, 77 is his lucky number? We can relate

No matter how you feel about Wood and his attitude, there is no denying that he's a starting level big. He literally averages more points and rebounds then all 4 players in the deal combined. Low risk, high reward.

Not to mention he only has 1 year left on his deal. So he’s in a contract year. He should be especially motivated to play well this year. Worst case scenario he becomes a trade chip to include in any deal going forward.

I agree they need another wing but I would still love them to get another big. Isaiah Hartenstein would still fit perfect on this team even with Wood here.

Hartenstein
Wood
Luka
DFS
Brunson

That wouldn’t be a bad starting lineup, especially if Brunson can improve his 3%.

I still like Hartenstein for the TMLE if he would agree to that. But I don't think he will now because Dallas is not going to be able to offer him starter minutes now. The people on here suggesting Hartenstein would start over Wood or beside him are out of their mind and really don't understand the realtive skill of both Hartenstein and Wood. Wood is a good switch defender but in no world is he a 4 in the modern NBA especially because on of his better skills is his ability to attack 5s from the perimeter or on close outs, that skill disappears if he starts getting guarded by Mikal Bridges instead of Rudy Gobert.

I think Dallas could go for a wing with the TMLE now. If we really want TJ Warren a 1 year TMLE could work if he passes a physical. I also think Otto Porter or Oladipo could work. And Jalen Smith isn't off the table for me either.

Hartenstein or jalen smith would be ok on tmle. Have absolutely 0 intrest in dragic. As i said last summer, back then i would be willing to offer vet min to him. But after this season, he is just done and no reason to add him for just leadership when our team is pretty old. So better to keep frank.

Luka Brunson Dinwiddie Frank
THJ Bullock Green
DFS Pinson
Kleber Bertans
Wood Powell

Not sure if i missed someone. If not, that is 2 spots left. I would say add Hartenstein if possible, if not, I would give omoruyi a full contract. Then for the last spot a sf/pf. Someone will go undrafted, pick that up unless u buy a 2nd. Not impossible some of those that been talked about for our draftpick falls to 2nd round. We need to find some cheap young guys that we can have for a long time.

After that, sign 2 2way players. And if u have managed to land hartenstein, try to trade powell for better fitting sf/pf/c rotation piece

Do we have the assets to trade for Jerami Grant?
Would Green/THJ/Future Pick(s) be enough?
Re-sign Brunson
Sign Hartenstein
Sign Dragic to Min

Not enough, Green basically has value of at most an early 2nd value pick, THJ is obviously a negative value that need a first round pick to net off, unless we want to give up 2 future first round picks for Grant, otherwise, don't think we have a chance on Grant.

Wood actually blocks 1.3 shots compared to Maxi's 1.4 and Powell's 0.8 per 36 minutes. With a 7-2 wingspan, Wood could have achieved more on the defensive end. Even with a skinny frame, Wood doubles the rebounds from Powell. That's amazing.

Would love to see Hartenstein in Dallas since it would be the first mavericks i actually played against myself.
I was in my very late 20s and at the top of my game. He was about 14 years old and already around 6-6 and he busted my ass so hard i actually thought about ending my career - and it was just a friendly game not a regular season or anything.

Powell can't play, we need a back-up C for sure.

I don't think THJ has negative value, his contract is not bad and he can play.
At the next TDL he will increases his trade value for sure. I don't worried about him.

Not having to rely on THJ as our second option will help how he's perceived. His contract decreases every season so that's value in it's self. Davis Bertans is the biggest issue we have on our books now because he's not ever going to live up to his contract.
