I'm not sure if a "true PG" is the answer because then what do you do with Smart and the defense? I think they need to upgrade at PF. Al Horford, while still a really good player, just turned 36 years old. I get the Rubio posts but post-ACL, I think that player with the Cavs doesn't exist anymore. Would've been perfect though.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Boston Celtics
If the Hawks makes moves I’d love to land Kevin Huerter into our trade exception. Give up a 2023 1st and salary relief. Doubt hawks would do it directly, but could see a 3 team deal where they trade Huerter for a better defender but the other team prefers salary relief and a pick over Huerter.
Smart / White
Brown / Huerter
Tatum
Horford / G Williams
R Williams
I’ll roll with that playoff rotation. Another shooter they trust to play more than Pritchard would do a lot for their spacing IMO.

If they had a prime Kyle Lowry, this series would have been another story
Sign a cheap ball handling fast 5 minute per game point guard that is cheap because he can’t shoot.
Trust in the advantages of player continuity. Tatum and Brown are young enough that their ball handling may improve.
Smart and White are pretty good.
If turnovers continue to be a problem, so what. The Celtics can win with turnovers by being good in other areas.
Smart is a winner and you do not want to replace him. The team ball movement as a whole was pretty good.
Warriors don’t get any credit for their defense is good and the Celtic problem of having their ball handler double teaned created turnovers that won’t be caused by other teams. If another team other than the Warriors double team the ball the Celtics will make them pay but the Warriors defensive rotation was good enough to clog the holes that double teaming the ball creates.

I swear half their turnovers this series were unforced. Just boneheaded/lazy passing and honestly not a single guy on this team can dribble worth a damn.

Marcus Smart is not the answer at point guard for this Celtics team and that's just the beginning of the fix list. I hope the people behind the scenes for the Celtics see these holes in the team and find a way to address them in the offseason.

I don't see this offense as championship caliber. I think they have to make a major change, or Tatum and/or Brown has to make tremendous strides as playmakers, ballhandlers.

He's been to the same amount of finals in his 5 year career than the Knicks have since 1995. He's also been to more conference finals than the Knicks have since 1972. Small time player that **** on your small time franchise.

The thing i really believe is that Marcus Smart has to really work on his leg work next year, squats and stuff, because he seems to fall down and collapse a lot.

Seems like you are joining the saltiness.
My team just lost the finals. It absolutely sucks.
Am I going to spend the next few weeks in every single Warriors thread whining like you? Absolutely not.
LOL. Got him good there.

I’ve said all year we need a bench scorer. Someone to
come in to cook for a few minutes when the Js are out or cold.
Ala Poole, Herro, Clarkson.. those players are few and far between maybe we can score one in the draft somehow.

Passing!! They need to work on not **** throw the ball away, especially the really poor passes need to be cut down.

He's a good idea, but I imagine that he'll get more money than the Celtics can pay him. However, I could be wrong.

Tatum can improve as a playmaker.
Marcus Smart was the best plus minus player on the Celtics again tonight.
Don’t try to get an upgrade on Smart. It won’t work.

Are you really saying this with Curry falling down at the slightest contact and literally kicking out every time he shoots a 3 coming off a screen(then proceeding to fall down)? C'mon, man.

That's true, you cannot have like 15-16 TOs a game, some of them literally awful and not forced and expect to win a title. They need a Ricky Rubio type player and a bench that can provide some type of scoring(on regular basis).

great season for the young Celtics. give Udoka another year with this core and add some FA vets to round out the roster. they are going to be a perennial contender going forward.

Agreed, bone headed passes to nobody, dribbling the ball of your foot or the ball getting behind you while you dribble. This happened the entire playoffs and it needs to be improved.

Yes i am. I hate flopping in general, but there is a difference between flopping to embellish contact and flopping as a primary strategy on every single play. Look at how many times Smart was left out of position on plays where the refs didnt fall for his crap. His flopping actually hurt you guys probably more than it hurt us. If I was a Celtics fan i would be mad that our players put too much focus on relying on refs as a strategy instead of just playing through stuff. Once you get to the latest rounds and finals, refs will eventually swallow their whistles and you aren't going to able to use them anymore. On too many plays it just looked sad when Smart was on the ground as his cover shot a wide open jumper.
