Their defense was simply excellent, their ball movement, their role players stepped up big as the series unfolded.
I never thought they could beat Boston considering how much Klay and Green have regressed- but guys like Wiggins and Poole stepped up- as did Curry. Kerr is a brilliant coach who will never get enough credit for how good his adjustments are.
I feel like the best team beat the 2nd best team for a championship. It sucks to lose as a Celtics fan but the Warriors really deserved this one.
Congrats Warriors fans.

Yep, the Warriors were also the 1st that understood that Boston was going to defend them tough, but instead of worrying about how to score, they simply looked for Boston's weaknesses and were able to make Tatum a liability on offense. They showed a tremendous amount of poise.

I still think milwaukee was the best team this year
A series with gsw wouldve been hella fun, who could stop Giannis ?

Boston deserved to be there, they beat everyone they faced in the East, which is what it takes, even if they took 7 games a couple of times. Injuries are a part of the game and you had a few yourselves, and got past it to advance.

Hopefully your boys learn from it, continue to improve, and you get another crack at a chip before too long.

What I mean is we had way too many TOs, like way too many during the entire PO run.
We also had injuries, which everybody deals with, I guess and longer series, which might or might've not affected the performance. Still no excuses, the last 2 games were pathetic and our best player was a no show for 4 out of 6 games. So, yea not sure if we deserved to be there, it would've probably been MIL, had Middleton not been injured(injuries are a part of the game tho).
Good assessment:

i thought boston had a good chance. i think they just got dead tired. that short rotation & full on defense might have been too much.

Boston was a hot team, but in late December they were a really mediocre team. Their offense just went platinum for a long period of time, I just never trusted their chemistry as a core and I didn't see scoring talent beyond Tatum and Brown, who are both learning as playmakers. So, Miami and Milwaukee both figured out that crowding Tatum and letting Smart and White run free was going to result in opportunities to get back in games. They just couldn't produce enough supporting offense. Didn't have the scoring talent to make the Celtics defense pay. Golden State did. They found that bad Celtic team from December, and then you started to see the ball stick more, hesitations on shots from good shooters, rushing transition play leading to TOs. It was really impressive. And then Steph was just a backbreaker.

Rob Williams missed 4 games in the Bucks series and Marcus Smart missed 2.
Horford also missed one game.

YEP and the bucks missed their critical right hand man to Giannis. Would have been a very very different story if he was available

MIL ortg 109.9 against Bulls 23rd RS defence, looked very pedestrian compared with RS 115.1 even with Middleton two games. MIL wasnt the best team in the EAST this year.

Man, took less than 12 hours for RealGM to start applying asterisks. Then again they apply them all season before the playoffs even start.

It was comical how many people said this series was over after Boston went up 2-1.

Golden State was always the better team and it was a long shot for Boston to win this series. I'm actually surprised they even won two games.

Why not? You won 2 game 7, one from behind and were the only ones that swept a team. If you didn't deserve it, you wouldn't have made it.

We sucked on offense the entire playoffs. We averaged like 15-16 TOs a game, we should've beaten the Bucks and MIA in less than 7 games if we played up to par. We barely screeched past them, which was disappointing.
Our defense carried us and we lack a good 6th man who can provide offense on regular basis.

But that's the point, you deserved it because of your defense. It carried you to the final. Warriors and Boston have the two best defense in the league, but it's clear you need a playmaker to tone down the TOs for one and create better opportunities because it puts too much pressure to win the title.
