I'm comparing them as a scorers, when they faced the best defense in their finals series.

You can make your own thread about comparing their respective careers. This thread is about one series. If you don't want to compare one series then you don't need to comment in the thread or provide discussion.

Its not a difficult concept to understand.

i understand, just wanted to point out the insignificance of comparing a 6 games sample. Are we allowing to post 1 game comparison on this board too?

Jordan had a 116 ortg vs Sonics 102.1 for +13.9ortg

Curry had a 119 ortg vs Celtics 106.9 for +12.1ortg

Jordan scored 24.5pts per 75poss. Curry scored 24.75 per 75poss.

Not much of a difference here when you factor in pace and era.

Its extremely hard to compare players in one-game series due to the types of defenses played. In 2015 and 2016 for example, the Cavaliers were often content with playing 4v3 and forcing the ball out of Curry's hands, keeping him off rhythm as often as possible and switching up the looks of the defense. In 2022, Boston made a decision to do what they do best, switch and drop high against Curry, not playing 4v3 defensively as their defense and the strategy of their defense is what got them to the finals.

In the 1996 NBA Finals, the Sonics goal was to stop/slow down Jordan. The Bulls counter to this was to crash the glass on every shooting possession and it worked--Rodman averaged nearly 7 OReb per game and the Bulls averaged 17 OReb per game, inflating their Ortg, taking advantage of the horrendous rebounding front-court of Seattle--the teams Achilles Heal.

I'm not a Jordan nut-hugger like some people can be, but Curry's not a better scorer than Jordan if that's what you're trying to insinuate lol. Moreover, it's one series.

Are we going t act like 90s/00s defense was the same as 10s perimeter D?

If people like the no defense era then cool, but it's silly to ignore that aspect in stats. Does anyone think MJ wouldn't torch Smart?

How well did other perimeter players score againt current Celtics?
Curry is very clearly a gigantic outlier.

You mean like Jimmy Butler who had 41, 29, 47, 35, against the Celtics?

27+ ppg on 53+ TS% is pretty good for bad.

Its sort of interesting because they are about the same age in this comparison but it doesn't mean much imo. They both faced tough defenses but this is Jordan's worst finals being compared to Steph's top 2.

Curry is the new goat. Followed by Jimmy Butler for his ecf performance and Lebron.
