Re: Utah Jazz have new jersey’s and courts
Awful. I'm assuming the black and the gold ones are going to be their standard unis with the classic mountain and music note ones being their throwbacks.
I really don't understand the need to re-brand every 5 years, especially when the Jazz have had some awesome looks in the past. And then to make them as generic and vanilla as possible.... just reeks of someone getting paid to change things for change's sake and then on top of it investing no creative energy whatsoever.

Re: Utah Jazz have new jersey’s and courts
So going throwback to the purple blue mountains, but then ditching the navy blue they have been into recently, interesting move.
I like the old school design, and it's All Star year in SLC... but the black / yellow stuff looks like practice jerseys to me, not inspiring.

I feel like 90% of the teams rebrand every year. It seems like almost every team releases 4-5 new jerseys every season. And its not just design either, its like teams dont even have official color schemes for their teams anymore either. There has been a few times this year I would turn on a Warriors game and at first I think Im watching a Knicks game because they're pretty much wearing a Knicks jersey and color scheme.
Or when it comes to the Jazz, what are the Jazz colors now? Is purple still part of it? Is it that weird orange color? Is it dark blue? Black?Yellow? Green?
And before anyone says it, yes I get why they do this. More different jerseys means a better chance more people will buy more jerseys. Just saying its gotten to the point where teams dont even have go to jerseys or team colors anymore.

Like most corporate jagoffs, they are taking revenue over establishing an identity. Now, I do feel bad for these struggling NBA owners, so I totally support the revenue choice. **** having an identity and all. When has that ever mattered as a sports fan.

Nothing screams "Jazz" better than a purple mountain.
Nothing about Utah screams "Jazz"

That purple mountain jersey and the purple court design with Jazz spelled out both look GREAT, although it might have looked even better in navy blue.
The black court design looks ass IMO, but at least it's not as bad as the Nets grey/black court design.
The Jazz moved there from New Orleans.

Hot garbage. Not even using their team colors anymore. Talk about a franchise in turmoil. Might as well rock these

I think the Lakers and Jazz should swap team names. Utah Lakers makes more sense because they play in Salt Lake City. Jazz still doesn't quite fit with LA...but hey...it's entertainment...so maybe it fits?

Every team wants to wear black now. It’s lame. Gone are the good ‘ol days where the Spurs, Bulls, Heat, and Magic were the only teams with black uniforms.
Now every single team wants to wear them. And it looks like Utah wants to make it their primary uniforms. Lame, cliché, and overdone.

Your first thought of black unis are Bulls and Magic? How about the Heat, Heat stiff havent changed their uniform design, though they changed the material, I prefered Shaq era shiny material. But yeah, Miami Heat still has classic black unis.

Looks same as always.

And the funny thing is that conventional wisdom is that having a strong and consistent brand identity is probably the most lucrative option that there is for a company. If you look at the most successful sports franchises, they traditionally all strive to maintain a consistent and classic look which people will associate with them (psychologically and even subconsciously) and thus be more likely to gravitate to when it comes to merchandise opportunities. Obviously it tends to lock in a stronger fan culture, as well.
So the idea that constantly changing and expanding your company's branding simplistically yields more profit just doesn't hold a lot of water based on all of the marketing studies that I've ever seen.
And it's not even like the Jazz are some fledgling new franchise, either. They've been around for going on 50 years now and have had a ton of time to just set their branding more or less in place. It seems like a lot of NBA teams especially like to do this, while NFL/MLB teams are far more consistent with just maintaining a strong and consistent identity.

Yup. Sticking with the Jazz, Stockton played for close to 20 years with that team. When I think of Stockton I have a clear imagine in my head. Its either the Jazz across the front with the J looking like a musical note. Or the Jazz with Mountains behind it. You had your home and away for those two jerseys and that's pretty much it. But the thing is, that's great marketing because like you said, its a strong consistent brand.
Now its not like that at all.

I like them. Every time I see another team get a rebrand or go back to a retro jersey, I cry inside. **** our ownership.

Improvement. Now a name change is due, as Utah is not jazz.

I like the overall look and simplicity to them, but on body - the name and number on the black and yellows ones are far too large.
