I enjoyed the final season, especially the last 3 episodes. Once Arthur "classic" returned (for the most part). I don't really see a need for a movie but it sounds as if there will be one. Steven Knight hinted that there may be something more after the movie so I assume the movie would set up a sequel of sorts, maybe centering on Duke. Who knows. Only 36 episodes and I'm sorry it's over.

Wow, I had the exact opposite reaction. Didn't like the last season, and thought thank god there's a movie coming because there was a ton that got left unresolved.

Spoiler:
Yeah but other than going after Moseley there really isn't much that I'd be interested in. The finale was 1.5 hours, they should have just made it 2 hours, dispatch Moseley and be done with it. But I guess the movie is the launching of the sequel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I just finished the first episode.

Spoiler:
A few thoughts:

1) I’m a fan of a slow burn, but I agree, it started to drag a bit. But when it took off it really took off. Commercials spoiled the action a little for me.

2) I love Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow.

3) I don’t know if losing a child suddenly or knowing they are alive but never able to hear from them again would be worse, so I appreciate Bridges decision.

4) I took a class not long ago focused on counseling older adults. I’m glad there is another series with two experienced people as the lead. Too often in our culture we tend to undervalue their wisdom.

I’m excited to see where it goes.

Top Gun Maverick lived up to the hype. I had no intensions of seeing it. The reviews and word of mouth praise changed my mind. I'm glad it did. Just a fantastic fun movie.

I saw it at a Regal RPX theatre. That's the way to see this movie. You want to watch this one in a theatre, and in a high performance screening (RPX) if possible... Normally it would bug me spending $70 for two tickets, two large sodas and a large popcorn. Not this time though.

The writing and the casting is top notch. The character interaction with Amy Brenneman, and between Lithgows supporting cast is excellent. So many things about it are relatable and the Dude is still masterful in his craft. I like that they are unafraid to go dark with it. The depth of the writing is excellent

Oh yeah, I love that show. Went to see his stand up in Milwaukee several weeks ago and it was great.

Oh man I gotta thank you guys for this recommendation. It's great. It's very zen for me. Very calming and enjoyable, feel-good.

I assume you've both watched How To With John Wilson?? I think they're in the same arena.

Stream of conscious reflection: Top Gun: Maverick

Spoiler:
It was meta! Wink, wink, nod, nod. Americana, LOUD, BOOM, Maverick experiences ageism; karma, nod to Labyrinth playing let’s dance during Jennifer Connelly’s opening scene, enemy is ourselves, homoerotic, mix of hero’s journey and Disney, Apple, Amazon, PepsiCo branded goofy, wish Maverick died in the plane crash, a Celebration of Life to a 90s era, cisgendered white male action movie machismo, Porsche, white T-shirt, fly into the sunset with the girl in your Cessna. Laugh, cry, feel a little like 10 year old again.

I loved it.

Yeah, the bizarre thing about “Maverick” was it was all the things you said and still fun and likable. It was so much more probable to be even a few of those things and cringey.

“Hustle” is a legit very very good basketball movie.

There were a few things that didn’t work (as if the nba wouldn't draft a kid with an assault charge). The combine invite thing felt awkwardly melodramatic. The timing was not super realistic.

But for me, there was a ton more that worked. Sandler pulled off a role that was beyond his typical fart and yell persona. Anthony Edwards was a charming villain. The lead was well cast (is that a Hemandez brother?). The cameos and media parts were more authentic than is typical in these movies. The story had heart. I really liked this movie, and Im as surprised as anyone.

John Wilson was actually the comparison I made to my wife. That plus Ted Lasso plus some Tim and Eric.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

The lead was Juan Hernangomez I believe

Yeah, that is what I meant to type. It was late. I think Juan did a really good job too. They wrote an interesting and believable back story. He acted it well, especially since English is his second language. There were a lot of weird "pieces" in this movie that I think turned out really well; Queen Latifah as Adam Sandler's wife? Kenny Smith as a power agent? Anthony Edwards as a subtle villain? The Sixers pulling a Colangelo (beloved owner putting his asshat son in charge)? The kids saving the day with social media? There were a lot of unexpected things in this movie that somehow fit well and stayed fun.

"Hustle" is better than "He Got Game." Hot take, or reasonable?

So what the hell happened between whatever the last Marvel movie I saw and Dr. Strange Multiverse. Feels like a lot must of occured in the MCU for Wanda to become a super villian.

Been looking forward to this movie for a long time, but pretty meh. Seems like the MCU might have overpaced and oversaturated us for too long and running out of juice. Or maybe that was just a dud to me.

Yea, she created a fake world with fake vision and fake kids and then it stopped. The question of, like, why not just make another fake family? i don't think gets answered (right?).

I liked Dr. Strange fine but really everything Marvel's been down hill for me since End Game.
