Right now, I’m hoping we get Ivey with the 5. If he’s gone, I’m leaving 60% Mathurin 40% Murray.

That would be nice but it requires that Grant for 7 again.

If that's the case, I'd trade the #5 pick and a 2024 2nd round pick. Equal value as that trade lol

I know it's the Kings and they're completely inept both FO and ownership wise but that's just nonsense. Kuzma...really?
Yahoo has really gone downhill after Woj and Shams left

Re: Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect
Read this in the Athletic this morning which makes me like Sharpe a bit more. Most lottery picks don't want to do any competitive workouts, so as not to mess up their current draft status. Sharpe seems to be confident. Curious on how well these went.
Kentucky’s Shaedon Sharpe is the mystery man of the NBA Draft. Sharpe is a projected high lottery pick, and sources say he has conducted strong group workouts such as three-on-three and four-on-four scrimmages to showcase his ability for teams who have not seen him play organized basketball over the past year or two. Instead of conducting individual workouts, Sharpe sought the competition, working out for teams between the draft ranges of Nos. 1-13.

Funny, I believe ESPN reported the exact opposite. Sharpe was “unable to separate himself” from other prospects during his 3 on 3 workouts.
Draft time is a crazy time.

Agreed. Lot of information (and disinformation) going around. Hopefully Weaver got to see enough to make the right call.

Well, teams/FO salivating to get him from beyond #8 and down is enough for me consider him enough that he's clearly a good prospect (in addition to his size, athletic ability, and shooting) and shouldn't be a shocker if a team reaches for him at all
It's always humorous when you hear these scouts and reporters on podcasts about how a prospect at #4,#5 is a total reach and insane to consider but love said prospect at #6, 7, 8 etc and a no brainer. Like just pick the guy if you clearly love him. I at least respect OKC for picking Giddey last year when that was considered an unexpected pick but still within the same 7 to 10 range

i think one of the disconnects between media/fans and teams is that media/fans rank prospects whereas teams tier them.
let's say a team has the 7th pick and picks a player that was consensus 12th on media mocks or big boards. media/fans will say they reached for that player but really the team had about 5 players in the highest tier remaining and picked the one they liked the best (for position, leadership, character, etc.).
a 5 pick difference seems like a big reach to fans/media but if those 5 players are in the same tier then it really doesn't matter to the team.

Re: Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect
Here's how I like to look at Sharpe... If Jaden Hardy did what Sharpe did this year instead of playing for the G-league and showing his flaws, he would have been the top-10 pick instead of a 25-30 guy.
Here's a mock from a year ago with Hardy taken 3rd behind Chet and Paolo: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2946134-way-too-early-2022-nba-mock-draft-welcome-to-the-chet-holmgren-hype-machine

Sharpe has the perfect size, and athleticism that every GM in the NBA dreams about, but with no experience.
There is a reason millions of people buy those scratch off tickets ya know...

Re: Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect
I'm really starting to believe this is a 4 player draft with a bunch of nice roleplayers.
Short of dealing any future unprotected picks I think Weaver should be open to dealing any other asset to move up to #4 on Thursday. This might be their best chance to add a second franchise piece next to Cade.

This narrative happens with almost every draft and is wrong more often than it's right. The chances of the 4 "consensus" players being the 4 best players after all is said and done is very low. This particular draft is even more of a crapshoot than most IMO.

Re: Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect
Murray is the most NBA ready player in the draft, right next to Banchero. Murray is going to surprise some people by just how good, and versatile he is. I was down on him at first, as I thought it was just a three man draft. Nope.
Murray is going to be better, or equal to at least 2 of the top 3 bigs in this draft. He does everything well, and is an actual rim protector ta' boot.
I am now hoping that the Pistons draft him at 5, amd swing Grant for a high enough pick, they can also land Mathurin.

Outside of Jabari Smith, I wouldn't trade up for anyone if I am the Pistons.
