This whole passing narrative is completely asinine. Neither of them pass much at all.

Better of near 0 is still 0. People are acting as if Duren can initiate offense from the post or something.

I got Williams huge frame great rim protector. What exactly does duren do that's better? And he's smaller than Williams.

Ya, dont get this narrative. People act like these guys are Bam or, hell, even Nurkic when it comes to passing.

They are both closer to Dwight Howard, albeit I think Duren might be able to get 2, maybe 2.5 a game if the stars align.

Mark Williams, he probably is being undervalued at this point based on what people think his offensive game will be and giving no credit for any development there.

Im gonna drop a hot take and say teams will pick Williams in the lotto first over Duren.

( ALthough i have the right to change the order once we get smoke from the results of their workouts from teams )

people talking about Duren 'passing edge' as if he's gonna be slanging passing sets and running half-court offense in the NBA in any scalable way.

if you're drafting Duren over Williams because 'he's a better passer' I can only laugh honestly.

He very well might Clyde. You’re underestimating how advanced his feel is for his size at that age.

Well mark Williams is ahead of him on most mock drafts anyway.

Too early right now.. The fires haven't even been lit for the smoke to blow yet.

Just watch when "leaked" reports from some "insider" say Duren mqde 20 straight 3s in an empty gym or Williams total destroyed those 6ft trainers with his footwork or Duren is actually a blackbelt or Williams is a certified yoga instructor and etc etc

Then that Mock draft will change faster than Amber Heards facial expression in the courtroom

Duren is ahead on Givony’s big board which is probably the most important to track.

I don't see why mark Williams gets picked over Duren. Duren was an 18 year old freshman. Williams was a sophomore who turns 20 in December. They shouldn't be compared. Jalen can still be special.

If you think about reasonable outcomes do you want an unspectacular starting center who thrives as a drop-big (e.g. Poeltl) or an unspectacular starting center that thrives switching (e.g. Gafford). Both have outlier potential to be something greater, but this is how I'd start the conversation. Then you can start thinking about the odds of exceeding reasonable outcomes. I think the odds are a bit higher for Duren just because Memphis was pretty terribly coached and he might have more in the bag, but YMMV. I also agree Duren could be a better passer, but I think we are talking about passing like Derrick Favors who was excellent in the short roll and made good reads, but didn't get assists in high volume (just also wasn't a black hole).

I'm taking Mark Williams. True big man. Not undersized. Asked to do limited things for Duke. I see the upside in him. I think he will grow into his body and thicken up. Although Duren is muscled up as we speak. Ben Wallace like? I'm not sure I see that.

I'm going with Mark Williams and if you build the team right, you will have the correct players around him to fit.

What is the highest I would draft either one?

not convinced Duren is even 6'10". And despite being smaller he's much stiffer than Williams. I have seen flashes of being a good passer, help defender and switchability plus he can really run the floor. But his situation in college was so detrimental to him I think it affected his game. He's got a lot of upside. Williams could be Gobert 2.0 but maybe with more offense. I think I take him and it's not close imo

Duren is the vastly superior prospect. People are going to be kicking themselves for having missed it.

Are these measurements with or without shoes? In game his height doesn't stand out to me either.

i have to assume it's in shoes. but that still puts him at 6th tallest guy in the draft and he has the 2nd longest wingspan in the draft. Also tied for the biggest hands in the draft.
