Was this a recent interview
If so, killing his agent right now and that coaches comment seems really odd

Maybe he’s so stoned he doesn’t realise Borrego has been fired

Lol his agent is about to get his client a max deal and Miles says he'd take less money.

That interview was 10 days before Borrego was fired, which feels like forever ago

Basically was forever ago. What's it been 2 and a half months

"Hornets Hesitant To Match Max Offer Sheet On Miles Bridges"
Dude why do we suck so hard. Following this franchise- as I have been since they arrived in 04- has been straight up painful. We are the Detroit Lions of the NBA.

Seriously.
Not signing Kemba was a good thing dude. He was not worth it and the results speak for themselves - Boston cut him for nothing and took a huge salary hit. It also got us Ball.
Weird take.
You misunderstood the take. The implication was that without Batum's albatross of a contract, there would've been flexibility to keep Kemba and build the team. Likewise, without Hayward's albatross of a contract, there'd be more flexibility.

They're mutually exclusive and not at all the point of the conversation. They could full max him and the only concern would be luxury tax.
It's wholly based upon whether or not Miles is worth a max contract, which he isn't. That leads them to the difficult decision of hamstringing themselves for the sake of keeping a fringe all-star around, or trading a guy who may or may not have more upward trajectory
Explain that to LaMelo, who would see it differently.

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
Explain it to Melo when he asks for a trade in 2-3 years because the team is capped out and getting bounced from the first round every year because a Rozier/Miles/PJ supporting cast is nowhere near championship caliber.

Well he is a free agent, albeit a restricted one. I do love seeing all these Pistons fans get worked up. He’s not leaving for free.

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
miles aint going anywhere. just a matter of how much we pay. we'll see if pistons really want to tie up their space for several keys days waiting on us to match.

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
I'd sign & trade Miles to Detroit for Cade. Maybe they drafted Ivey as a replacement.
**Random speculation based on nothing**
But on a serious note, Detroit doesn't have anything realistic for trading for Miles. Unless Miles says he doesn't want to be here, he isn't going anywhere.
But if that scenario happens. What about Bey + Stewart for Miles?
They just drafted Duran and Miles will take Bey's spot.

If another team gives him the contract, they are doing us the favor because it would be cheaper.

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
What's the strategy?
- tell him to go find an offer he likes, sign it and we will match
- pre-emptively negotiate on day 1 with a 5 yr deal, slightly below max, but fair value... like 5/125.
1st option runs risk of bad blood, but ensures we pay market value and only 4 yrs.
2nd option runs risk of negotiating against yourself and overpaying, but shows we are 100% committed
Whatever we do, don't lowball and make sure to contact him as soon as free agency opens. Be transparent in our intentions.

LaMelo is clearly watching how we handle this situation. I don't think it bodes well for us if we fudge this one.

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
I think teams will be reluctant to immediately offer miles a huge contract. When, and if that happens we will undoubtedly wait the maximum amount of time to match to keep their cap locked up for messing with us.

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
Detroit's beat reporters are saying the Pistons are so happy with how draft went they are more likely to pursue a few veteran contracts over one large signing. Idk how true that is, but if they do sign Miles to offer sheet they risk a few of their targets signing elsewhere.
Also, seen the Pacers listed, they only have like 20-25 million in max cap space. Doubt they are serious contender unless our FO just decides they have no interest and start working out a sign and trade with them so they can offer Miles enough.
I don't know if people realize how bad we would be if we don't resign Miles.

Assume Miles off the roster with me for a second.
LaMelo - 20 yrs old
Hayward - 31 yrs old
Rozier -27 yrs old
Then a bunch of unknown young guys
I am sorry, but its pretty hard to get me excited about Kai, Mark Williams and Bouknight as running mates with LaMelo if we lack a true second piece in Bridges.

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
We need to retain Miles. Gotta match , it stretch it whatever. Can’t let homegrown talent leave now if we want to keep guys like Melo and Williams later.
