Re: Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect
I've really come to like Murray's game mostly because he does the two things on defense that this team sorely lacks;
Rebound, and block shots.
Some players just have a knack for those two things, and he does both, at a very high level. He is a unicorn of sorts, who knocks down threes, and blocks shots.
He also knows how to put the ball in the basket, and with Cade getting mugged everytime he goes into the lane, he is going to have a ton of open shots.
Ivey, I just don't know. Honestly. If the Pistons didn't have Cade, he would be my #1 target, but I have my concerns with both of them operating at the same time.

ESPN (Givony) has us taking Mathurin at 5 and Indiana taking Murray at 6.
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

I'd be fine with Mathurin, as he would become a legitimate lob threat in the backcourt for Cade, which would be dynamic as hell, when he and Bagley are on the floor together.El Chivo wrote:ESPN (Givony) has us taking Mathurin at 5 and Indiana taking Murray at 6.

my hot take is that Johnny Davis will be a better Nba player than Mathurin...

When it comes to the NBA draft, there really aren't any hot takes. We've all seen players selected late, become amazing, and players selected in the top 5 bust.El Chivo wrote:zeebneeb wrote:I'd be fine with Mathurin, as he would become a legitimate lob threat in the backcourt for Cade, which would be dynamic as hell, when he and Bagley are on the floor together.El Chivo wrote:ESPN (Givony) has us taking Mathurin at 5 and Indiana taking Murray at 6.

I’m a big Mathurin fan. I followed his college career closely. Great combo of skill, athleticism, proven results against real competition, untapped potential, and competitive fire. Just what you want in a lottery pick.

to me he looks like a late lottery pick. if he's the pick I hope I'm wrong.

feel the same here, in the trio of Ivey/Murray/Mathurin, he's firmly 3rd for me

I wouldn't be all that excited, feel like he gets more hype now then he did when he was playing. Feels like a KCP type of pick to me

Besides were getting Ivey anyways. If they're high on Murray while Ivey publicly say's he doesn't want to be there makes me think they choose Murray.
"The Sacramento Kings are reportedly "high" on Keegan Murray and went as far as arranging dinner between him, De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, sources told Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports."

I heard on a podcast today that the Kings have a history of taking guys out to dinner and then not drafting them actually. Luka for one. So, who really knows.

Murray does make alot of sense for them though. Ivey already didn't fit that great with their roster before those comments he made. Where they're at financially they're probably looking at fit and BPA (to them anyways)

Experience tells me that this close to the draft we are better off just ignoring the rumors and waiting.
The rumors are pointless further out from the draft too, but further out there’s nothing else to talk about unless your team is in the playoffs.

Your wisdom should be telling you that’s not a Kings move. When was the last time they were afraid to draft someone they never worked out, interviewed, etc? Drafting Ivey is a kings move lol but I agree it’s looking like Ivey going fifth
Defense wins championships

Would they really do that at #4 though? Not even work the guy out in Ivey and show that much interest in a guy who lets be honest is right in the mix around the #4 anyways in Murray.

Re: Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect
I'm fine with Mathurin, Murray, or Ivey. I find the Ivey fit the most suspect there, because I have the least confidence in him as a shooter, and I know how our offense looked last season with too many guys who couldn't space the floor, but I'd support any of the three. Sharpe is the one that'd worry me the most because he seems the most boom or bust and our history of developing raw prospects is .... not great.

Re: Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect
Some very interesting intel from Jake Fischer (don't know how reliable he is but it's.... something)
"The Kings continue to receive plenty of trade interest for the No. 4 selection, where the Pacers, Knicks, San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards and others have made efforts to leapfrog in the lottery. Of those teams, it's believed the Pacers and Spurs are targeting Iowa forward Keegan Murray, while New York and Washington have their sights set on Purdue combo guard Jaden Ivey.
Rival teams are prepared for Sacramento to gauge all trade interest up until the Kings are on the clock. If there's a surprise pick in the top three, Sacramento could receive a flurry of offers from teams that covet one of the star big men in the class.
Several teams picking behind the Kings are also preparing for Sacramento to select Murray if it remains at No. 4 and the top three picks unfold with no surprises. The Pistons, sources said, have projected a strong confidence that Ivey will be available for them to choose at No. 5 if the Kings stand pat."
The most interesting part to me is the Pacers and Spurs being interesting in trading up for.... Murray. That's a bit of a twist.

Re: Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect
Murray has a great set of skills, and has no real glaring weaknesses so it makes sense some teams will covet him. If the Spurs are interested, that should tell you everything you need to know.
If I had to make a bet, right now, I would say that Ivey/Murray will become a Piston on Thursday. Now, if Ivey ends up getting selected in the top three, all bets are off, who the hell knows what could happen in that mess.

It will be a storm of incoming trade calls over the matter of 2 minutes for one of the big 3.

Re: Your 2022 NBA Draft Prospect
Sacramento- needs a 3 point shooting PF most
Spurs- need a PF most
Pacers- need a PF/SF type, already getting log jammed in the back
Knicks- yeah they're taking Ivey
Hopefully we got our #5 and Grant trade ready to go in case someone tries to move up we just pull the trigger.
I like Murray but once we weren't getting one of the bigs i instantly wanted to change focus to getting a good backcourt partner for Cade.
