Eh I don’t think he is a center but certainly a bouncy forward and we struggled to find even 10 quality guys last year. I’m almost expecting to carry 4 guys that would barely make a g league team on our roster this year
He measures a replica of Kevon Looney, who is one of the best modern defensive centers in the game.
Gotta say that once you said Looney I can’t unsee it now lol, definitely there. But Yoan tops him athletically, which makes me wonder how much the hip surgery robbed Looneys hops. I’ve seen Yoan move his feet around the basket with the ball a few times lightning fast, like had to rewind a few times to understand what just happened fast. Looney has quick hands defensively but he moves like an old man at times
You can still find looneys hype videos from high school on YouTube. He had a lot more skills and even drew durant comparisons. Obviously, take that for what it’s worth but the 2 degenerative hips along with a couple other injuries are what you see now.
He used his first two years where he was rehabbing to really study the game and managed to learn enough to become a good defender and he quarterbacks the d when Draymond is out. His best attribute has always been his switchability and ability to stay on the floor when teams go small, but he can get abused by real bigs like jokic or embiid.
I’d be comfortable paying about $10m per for the dubs and about half of that for most other teams. I hope he gets a giant bag just cause he’s definitely earned it (and hopefully he’d get stretch/waived and come home pretty quick).
