so....Trade down for Paolo confirmed

Heard the same thing when he said that. hahaha.

And as much as I'm all about Chet.... if we choose someone else... that means that they think he is better than what for me... is a "Magic Type of Player"... and if that's the case... his expectations are greater than we think.

I can see how jabari, chet, paolo and ivey can change this franchise. Let's go WeHam... put your magic to work and make the best choice!

He sounds like a **** Politician who doesn't have a clue on how to build a winning team. Give me a FN break with that answer

What's wrong with it? Good general mangers are most likely all going to do that same thing unless there is a no brainer #1.

I think Vegas really loves it when situation like this occurs.

1.) Teams like ORL and OKC getting top picks because we are both so unpredictable and secretive.
2.) There is no clear top talent in the draft.
3.) All projected top picks have different skillset that they bring to the table.

In any other draft, smart money is we pick Jabari. However, with the Magic org and their CIA-like secrecy, nothing is for sure thus money can easily be made.
So If I bet on Jabari and they take Jabari but trade him in a trade down move do I still win?

yeah it's a pretty good draft for bookmakers. No clear n°1 and probably cashing a lot of money from the pick 4 trade smoke.

But the most important factor of all... the GMs picking who they want regardless of who is projected at their pick or what. ( cases in point ORL getting Franz and OKC getting Giddey )

So i wouldnt be surprised if we get Paolo for the #1 and OKC goes Ivey/Sharpe

Lol me either. Im just wondering cause just cause he goes first does mean its for us. So the odds could be more so where their picked. So if the bet was just what team he ends up on I wonder how different the odds would be.

If thats the case... then thosr who bet on JS as the #1 will win it because bottomline, we did use the #1 pick on JS.

I mean, Fultz is considered the #1 draft pick and NOT Tatum during their class.

Well... He's not running for office where telling the people something without telling the people something is a negative... He's making a pick in the draft.... The number 1 pick at that.... And there are many avenues he needs to keep open. Sucks to be us.... But I love that they keep everything close to their chest.

I’m glad to see so many coming around in Paolo. I needed y’all holding down the fort with me defending him in the draft thread throughout the season.

Best mix of Shot creation/Play making in the draft.. and hes 6”10. The fact that WeltHam won’t admit Paolo worked out for them is.. interesting..

I dont know why everyone is suprised. Every year same story. I even encouraged my friend to bet on Banchero so i hope i got it right. Isaac no workout, Bamba no workout, Suggs no workout, Wagner secret workout, Anthony secret workout, Okeke secret workout.
Smith was out the second they published media interview with us.
Still not many people sold on Banchero, i dont get it.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Totally agree. I have rethought my position on this issue about why would you try to be secret just take the best player at one but trading down and leverage is a thing. I dont think Weltman was bsing us when he said he takes pride in the organization being leak free and that the players can trust the front office will be buttoned up and not throw you under the bus in the media. We take the same stance with injuries. Many people would like to see them more forth coming but I think the organization leadership feel that this isnt our info to disclose and they will leave it up to the individual players to discuss their injuries, workouts, and any other business.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

No one knows what they are thinking except the higher ups in the organization. All the draft rumors are getting more and more transparent with the clarification that "people outside the organization expect Jabari will be the pick" not many responsible reporters are saying anything beyond that.

them not divulging information can be frustrating for us fans, especially for media hungry for content.

But every business has its way of doing things. Its like telling your competitors what you are working on. By telling them, you lose leverage.

Exactly and its one step towards signaling hey this is a well run organization. While people are angry about transparency with Isaac and Fultz this year it services its purpose. When we go into a meeting with a high profile FA at some point and look them in the eye and give them evidence that we will stand by you and be player friendly they can point to all this brick laying they made. I think if we then see it pay off with Free Agency then the people angry about it will understand more. Hopefully lol.

A little confirmation of my fears with him. I am not convinced he wants to come to Orlando and you can’t pick him with these prospects being all very close.

Ivey and Murray worked out with us and they have extremely low chance of being the number one pick this says a lot about Banchero’s thoughts. I think the excuse we aren’t considering him is an excuse

Funny. The one dude who could be a superstar out of the top 3 and he doesn't want to be here.

Rough.

Guess we'll take a high quality role player at #1.

Now we know why Weltman had a 35 minute answer when they asked if Paolo had worked out for them.

Return to Orlando Magic
