Not saying this isn't true--I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were--but this is the only source I could find about it online, and no one else has corroborated it. Plus the only citation here is 'a league source told HoopsHype,' which is pretty thin coming from Michael Scotto.

Theyre better off giving him the supermax and then trading him asap rather than just letting him walk.

With so few teams with money, this sets up the Wiz to help him out with a S&T which gets them something back. Salary wouldn't have to match, so there is some flexibility here them, and for teams to come up with decent offers.

Glad he's leaving... that team was treadmill city and staying would have guaranteed they stayed there.
