I wouldn't even go that far. And are you new here?? He gets waaaaaaay to much love here

I must be. I don't see a lot of Lowry love. He deserves it if he gets it. He was a great player for Toronto leading them to heights they hadn't dreamed of in the first 20 years of their franchise.

That's because he isn't in Toronto anymore. When he was he was talked about all the time and talked about very highly around here. He's one of the most overrated players of all time if you go only off of this board.

TBF to wiki, that statement already has [clarification needed] and [according to whom?] notes

Made 0 sense to play a complete non treat/shooter next to a prime russell westbrook, whose main weakness was shooting and main strength in the halfcourt was getting to the rim and collapsing a defense. The whole board pretty much scoffed at the notion of spacing and how shooting was everything, preferring individual perimeter defense and screen setting. It didnt go well for OKC, KD left because of it and Roberson is now out of the league in his early 30s. Nobody plays guys remotely as limited as him offensively at all, let alone the 30mpg he was handed by OKC.

Roberson is out of the league because his knee or what ever shattered. He can't play professionally because his leg is done. His impact on defensive side was dpoy level before his injury. OKCs defense with PG and Roberson that year before injury in late December was just ridiculous. Sure he couldn't shoot but he was really good at reading defense and make smart cuts to which Westbrook made wide open plays. Those backdoor cuts were bread and butter even with Thabo.

There's a certain poster here, who we just need to bring in every quote he's ever made...but I feel like I'd be offensive on some level. Then again I also HOPE he's trolling. And no it isn't someone I've ever seriously argued with...nobody I'd argue with is posting just complete insanity!

There is a much larger than insignificant part of the population that think AI and Carmelo are top 5-10 all time, comfortably. It's the same ones that we're supposed to feel like "stat nerds" for disagreeing with them lol.

As we get older, our "stories" of past achievements and abilities often get more and more embillished with age, but unless he went through one of the greatest transformations in the history of mankind, I don't think he ever got more than 6 inches off the ground.
To this day my son and I still get a nice chuckle when we recall him making this statement.
My son had another coach who claimed that he was a 75% three-point shooter (on high volume) when he was in college. Apparently this guy could have taught Curry a thing or two about shooting.

God, where is that clip of SVG dribbling the ball when he was coaching the Pistons Magic?

They werent backdoor cuts. Nobody paid any attention to him, he was free to cut whenever. You have to be denied or closely guarded on the perimeter to cut backdoor. The idea of either haplening to roberson is laughable/never happened. Players were yelled at if they closed out to him!

He made it back from injury, just nobody plays guys like him. Ever see another guy go from 30mpg in his late 20s, have 1 injury, then never be able to play again (aside from catastrophic stuff)?

OKC couldve been an unstoppable offensive machine with prime russ/KD, but instead chose to play 4 on 5 (and their centers couldnt create or shoot eithet).Just think about the idea of having prime KD/westbrook and saying lets put a complete non shooter in the corner who cant dribble while guarded or attempt (not make, attempt) a pull up jumper and also put a center with no range out there who plays exclusively on the block (where russ is trying to go) and also isnt a post threat. It makes/made 0 sense.

Oof. I admit to saying the same thing in the draft, and not completely giving up on that right away. I think I held MKG stock until his injuries piled up and he didn't bounce back.

He did profile like Pippen a bit in college: transition monster with elite defense. It can be hard to tell when a prospect is going to develop/fix their awful shot. I mean look at Barnes. His shooting form in college was pretty horrible: zero lift, bad connectivity, and often shot on the way down. He looked clueless and unintuitive about the art of the jump shot. But even in pre-draft workout you saw him fix the connectivity and release point problems. Now he's well on his way to being a competent NBA shooter.

Easy to argue that no shot was bad as this though.

had to be last year playoffs when HOF Reggie Miller didn't understand that after a made basket the clock still runs even though the shot clock doesn't start running till the player receiving the inbounds pass touches the ball. Trae was milking the clock with a lead vs the Knicks and Reggie had no understanding of what Trae was doing.

I have a friend who "loves" the Celtics and would literally argue everything I said about basketball. Even obvious non debatable stuff. It was baffling. One day I asked for his thoughts on Bill Russell and he said "I'm not sure who that is" and then it all made sense to me.

Yeah, I see a lot of players (even plenty of good shooters) who contort their offhand/arm in an odd manner. Al Horford comes to mind because I just watched him, but MKG was literally shooting sideways. Like there was some kind of disconnect between his eyes and his arms, but only when shooting a basketball.
