They really went from harden Kyrie and kd looking unbeatable to this. It’s crazy how bad the nets blew it.

If I'm the Nets, I'd trade him. I'd call up 3 teams: Phoenix, Dallas and Memphis. I picked 3 West teams because I wouldn't expect the Nets to keep him in the east. With Ben in the fold, the Nets don't need a point. So, I would be looking for guys that can score and are capable defenders. Here is what I'd want from either team:

Phoenix: Cam Johnson, sign-n-trade Ayton, & Crowder
Dallas: Hardaway Jr., Bullock, Kleber, & draft pick
Memphis: Adams, Bane, Williams, & draft pick.

I don't really see the problem with paying Kyrie. The covid stuff has been lifted, he can still play like a top 20 player and is a good fit with KD. You just pay him, hope he plays 65+ games in the rs and see what happens after that. There are worse positions to be in than having a top 7 and top 15 player on the same team plus Harden(if they sign him). It's also going to sell tickets.

Looking at the bold...I'm guessing you may be just a little out of touch with what's happened over the last few years.

Agreed about re-signing him. The alternative path is letting Kyrie walk and trading Durant while not having your own picks for the next 7 years or so. Do they really want to go down the same path again?

Just pay Kyrie and make sure Durant can keep him focused. Kyrie/Durant/Simmons is the best trio in basketball imo. Just that potential should make this a rather easy decision for the Nets.

We were clearly celebrating the turnover and the fact we were about to win our first ever championship. The whole time the Warriors were saying Durant had a calf injury so no one knew he was going to be out for 1.5 years at the time.

We quieted down once most realized that it looked like a super serious injury. I understand that it's still a bad look but not nearly close to how it was being blown up to be.

Since when does waving good bye a celebration of a turnover?

I'm not. As I said, the covid stuff is over with and who are you going to get to replace him with? They have about a 2-3 year window with KD to try and win. He and Kyrie are tight. You sign Kyrie and hope for the best. He's only 30.

You wrote--quoted above--that the Nets were going to resign Harden.

Like ive been saying, if the Lakers are willing to give Kyrie the max extension in an opt-in and trade, BRK simultaneously becomes the team unwilling to pay Kyrie and unwilling to trade him to a destination that will pay him. There's no way that doesnt breed animosity, and im not sure how you get around that.

The Lakers have no assets. They could barely dump Westbrook let alone acquire Kyrie with the two distant FRPs they have remaining.

Durant to Kings and Irving to Pistons. Good riddance.

The initial cheer was celebrating the turnover. Then some fans celebrated that Durant might leave the game, which they thought would seal their first ever championship.

No one knew that Durant would be out for 1.5 years when the incident happened. The Warriors were calling it a calf injury the entire time so most probably assumed it was a calf strain or something. Not a great look but not close to what you're insinuating.

It was also a handful of douchebags fans. Not all Toronto fans...

A good majority of fans gave him a standing ovation as he was helped off the court.

like i said, this isnt about the Lakers. The point is about his actual value. Some teams would be willing to give him the full max, so the Nets are giving him a below market value deal. I mean the Knicks might be able to open up cap space themselves and not even need a trade and be able to sign him outright.

I would really hate playing with these two. They don't care about the team, just out there for themselves. KD is just a clownshow at this point..

At the end of the day having Kyrie>>>trading Kyrie for a meager return>>>losing Kyrie for nothing if he walks. The Nets are hedging against the end of Kyrie's deal but their championship window is like the next 2 years. They gotta either decide to go for it or not, cause i dont see a needle to thread here

Brown is 25 years old and guaranteed to give you high level two way play for another 7+ years. He and Tatum would be damn near untouchable if I was the GM.

Do you think getting Lebron and AD was worth it for 1 championship?

Celtics haven't won in what over a decade and getting back to the finals is no guarantee. Durant is still a top 3 player, so for the chance to win a title or 2, I'd make that trade

Lakers and Celtics situations have nothing in common. Celtics have two young stars who just beat up on Durant, beat the former champs and best player in the NBA, and took out the number one seed in the East. They were two games away from winning the finals, but now we're talking about breaking up the core. WTF. Celtics are gonna be perennial contenders, it would be moronic for them to jeopardize their future in hopes that the stars align and they can squeeze out one championship with Durant. Gotta stay the course, the Warriors model is proof that you cant be quick to give up on homegrown talent gotta let them take their lumps and mature together.

Not 'insinuating' anything. I saw the same thing the players on both teams saw, and neither were cool with the vibe. The duration of 1.5 years, or 1.5 games should make no difference.
