I think Dallas and Phx are the best suited due to having a playmaker that KD could play off

Most teams would kill to have KD.

Yep Brooklyn could really come out clean if they play this right. Better to read the writing on the wall and try to make lemonade rather than double down on something that’s a ticking time bomb best case scenario. There are probably at least 15 teams in the league already putting together hypothetical offers.

Durant to the Raptors.

Drake and KD are boys.

Raps definitely have the pieces if they’re willing to play ball.

Dude, c'mon.

Lebron didn't go to LA thinking he was gonna finish out his career carrying Lonzo, Ingram and Kuzma to a championship. He knew he was going there to recruit another superstar and ship out anything that was needed to make that happen.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

They didn't foresee happened what did with Kyrie and James Harden wanting out. The problem child has been Kyrie. He's the primary reason why James wanted out. When the three of them played together they had a 13-3 record.

If they couldn’t see Kyrie being a lockerroom problem then every front office member of that team should be fired on the spot. That’s complete malpractice to not foresee him being a problem.

So are KD and Kyrie a package deal or would he just leverage this to get to a better situation?

If they insist on staying together than I could see the Lakers being where they end up.

To LA: KD & Kyrie
To Houston: 4th pick + future first round pick from SAC
To Sacramento: AD
To Brooklyn: Westbrook + all Nets picks back + future first round pick from LAL

Durant is a $2.00 hoe

And Irving is a mental case

You’re better off without both of them

KD is under contract through 2026. Brooklyn should just hold firm, make whatever final offer to Kyrie they're comfortable offering, explore a trade otherwise, and tell KD they won't trade him no matter what.

What did the Nets do? All of the issues begin and end with Kyrie Irving.

They have had all the power the last few years and don't want to give it up.

What leverage do they have exactly?

Kyrie will be forced to take the short term extension. Neither LA team can sign him outright. Knicks will struggle to clear the cap space and even if they do, hard to see them offering him a 4 year deal.

And even if Kyrie leaves. What leverage does KD have? Hes on the hook for 4 years.

Dude can either shut up and play with Simmons. Or then what? Sit out? Destroy the little reputation he has left?

Is he prepared to become the next Ben Simmons and sit out the whole year? I doubt it.

Marks/Tsai cannot screw this up and keep giving Kyrie/KD what they want.

This is the best situation they will ever get. Kyrie's next team won't put up with his same shenanigans anymore. Even if KD is traded he will likely become a 2nd fiddle wherever he goes.

I was always in the camp that Nets should have traded Kyrie over Harden and get whatever they can for him. This is a **** show of Kyrie and KD’s own making. You see the drama Kyrie is already causing and he hasn’t even been signed.

Well Harden is just terrible. and out of shape constantly. And hes also a drama queen. So that would be an even worse option.

Kyrie is good when he plays. He just doesn't play.

The problem is that Kyrie never plays. He’s averaged around 35 games a season over the past 3 years. And it’s absolutely insane to pay this guy a max contract over 4-5 years. Harden is a lazy, fat, sack of **** but I’d take my chances with his availability over Kyrie’s.

Kyrie Irving continues to be a Franchise Killer. Sad that Durant's perception of him remains unchanged. At least Harden knew he had to get the hell away from that malcontent.

Winning cures all. If the Nets keep KD and build a winning team next year, all this Kyrie drama will fade away, and KD will be fine staying in Brooklyn.

there was risk because DJ was washed even back then (he's a corpse now), KD was coming off an achilles injury, and Kyrie was always a headcase.

I think the nets made the right moves to take the risk, but it's looking likely it isn't going where though had predicted.

I predicted this too, including this post in a now locked thread here:

Personally, as I've posted to these boards for sometime now, I think the Knicks may have dodged a bullet--crazy Kyrie and an injured KD may not prove as good together as they look now on paper. (I think things may go south, and fast.)

Good luck (sincerely) to the Nets, though.

I have never wanted Kyrie on the Knicks--though I would have (grudgingly) taken him too if that's what it took to get KD (prior to his 2019 Achilles tendon tear). Once KD went down again in 2019, I did not think even he was worth having to deal with Kyrie's BS.

They may have dodged a bullet with KD-Kyrie. But then took a bullet straight on next off season by paying Randle a max contract, a long with bad deals for Evan Fournier and Derrick Rose.

That outcome was much worse.

The Knicks are still the Knicks.

Randle is a bad contract. However, Rose--sadly our best pg over the last two years--has just one more year at $14,520,730. Fournier--again sadly the best 3-pt-shooter (.389%) and second-best eFG% (.541%) among our usual starting five--has just two more years at $19,500,000 per year. Accordingly, while this roster is not competing for a championship soon (ever), Rose and Fournier are relatively cheap for their production and soon to be gone, and we still have all our picks moving forward. (That Randle signing though.... :banghead: )

Compared to this...your starting point guard is a part-time player/full-time flat-earther currently holding the franchise hostage for a max contract. He is abetted in this attempted shakedown by your 34-year-old, oft-injured, always passive-aggressive, super-max "superstar," while your young gun max "all-star" just took last year off to focus on playing COD. Oh, and you have none of your own picks until something like 2044.

No offense, but I think we're in a race to the bottom...and you're winning.
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.
RIP The Hater--keep up the good fight in the great beyond.
