lol at thinking Timelord, Smart, and Brown would all be untouchable yet still bringing in Durant

I have never wanted Kyrie on the Knicks--though I would have (grudgingly) taken him too if that's what it took to get KD (prior to his 2019 Achilles tendon tear). Once KD went down again in 2019, I did not think even he was worth having to deal with Kyrie's BS.
They may have dodged a bullet with KD-Kyrie. But then took a bullet straight on next off season by paying Randle a max contract, a long with bad deals for Evan Fournier and Derrick Rose.
That outcome was much worse.
The Knicks are still the Knicks.
Randle is a bad contract. However, Rose--sadly our best pg over the last two years--has just one more year at $14,520,730. Fournier--again sadly the best 3-pt-shooter (.389%) and second-best eFG% (.541%) among our usual starting five--has just two more years at $19,500,000 per year. Accordingly, while this roster is not competing for a championship soon (ever), Rose and Fournier are relatively cheap for their production and soon to be gone, and we still have all our picks moving forward. (That Randle signing though....)
Compared to this...your starting point guard is a part-time player/full-time flat-earther currently holding the franchise hostage for a max contract. He is abetted in this attempted shakedown by your 34-year-old, oft-injured, always passive-aggressive, super-max "superstar," while your young gun max "all-star" just took last year off to focus on playing COD. Oh, and you have none of your own picks until something like 2044.
No offense, but I think we're in a race to the bottom...and you're winning.

I'm obviously a Celtics fan but I had a similar question, who did they trade to get him? I'm not sure Payton Prichard, Grant Williams, and Al Horford gets it done haha

KD is a top 5 player in the league no matter what stupid insults you want to throw his way.
Vax mandate is over and Kyrie will be available.
KD/Kyrie/Simmons is enough talent to win the East if we can get some luck.
Meanwhile the Knicks are stuck with the worst contracts in the league and very little young talent. And don't have a great draft pick.
As bad as our situation is, it is 1000x better than yours. Enjoy missing the play in again.

I'm willing to bet right now that your "core"![]()
of Kyrie, KD and Simmons also misses the play in next year. Is it a bet?

even OG + Gary Trent + 2 firsts is a low ball offer, seen that one a few times for KD and those guys are way better prospects than Grant Williams or PP
it would likely involve Brown as the main piece or Timelord + Smart + ? in a multi team deal
I'd pull the trigger if it were on the table. there's no gaurantee the Celtics get back to the Finals but adding a proven elite ISO scorer and 3 pt shooter like Durant increases those odds significantly

I will make you a sig bet right now that the Nets make the play in next year.
Take it if you have the balls to do it.

What did the Nets do? All of the issues begin and end with Kyrie Irving.

Going from a really good gm to a really really Bad one.

Deal--though the offer is only good if Kyrie, KD and Simmons are on your roster for at least half the next season. (I.e., if Marks somehow saves your sorry asses with a miracle Kyrie trade over this summer, then no deal.)
