if Hornets had drafted him, he would have never recovered from his early ankle problems and be out of the league. Its the Charlotte way.

nah, we'd have traded him after his 3rd season following his ankle surgeries for like a mid 1st to draft Tyler Zeller or something

In a few years when he goes ring-chasing with LaMelo....

This probably is the teams realistic title path. I don't think its really that unlikely that Steph decides to come home in a couple years and even if its later in his career when hes on the downswing he'd still probably be able to take the team to the next level in a Manu Ginobli 6th man role if he doesn't quite have starter juice still.

Steph is already 34 and under contract 3 more years. You think our most realistic title chance is a 38 year old Steph?

I didn't think he was under contract that long. I thought it was like two more years.

I had a soft spot for GS because of Curry up until yesterday. Now I just want to destroy them, I have nothing but hate for them.

Why? What does Golden State have to do with anything?

I get hate being directed at their lead assistant coach, but I don’t get hate directed at their franchise.

Tribalism mixed with envy I guess, they employ Atkinson and got to experience a dynasty because of Curry.

I hate the Pelicans for similar reasons, but I have cooled off on that recently.

I can believe that. Maybe they like all of the top 3 and want OKC and HOU (and other teams) to get into a bidding war trading for the top pick

He's under contract 4 more years. I think the last year of his deal is like 60 mil.

How do we feel about the value Detroit got for Grant?

Some thought they would get more. Even rumored to have eyes on 7th pick.

However, Detroit got a high upside first, added another 20 million in cap space this summer and moved up 20 spots. Feels like a Mitch type of deal.

I had his value between pick 16 (ATL) and pick 19 (MIN) and filler, so to get straight cap space and the pick (which barring a Giannis injury should be around 15-25 depending on how Middleton and Jrue age, and whether the Bucks retool eventually) is about what I would've expected or slightly less.

I thought Grant made more than the Blazers TPE but apparently he fit it?

I think because they did it before year turned over, Grant was still using previous year salary.

if its Hayward and 15 to get Ayton, will the media still call Charlotte cheap?

I'm worried Ayton might not be overly motivated though.

I would've NEVER figured that but you're right. That TPE was earmarked for Grant way back at the trade deadline. Pistons are gonna turn that cap into Ayton or Mitchell Robinson. Knicks pretty much have to draft Mark Williams now at 11.
