There could be some interesting names in the 2nd. I wouldn’t mind taking a look at Alondes Williams from Wake Forest as a sleeper pick somewhere in the 2nd. Has some nice tools even if he’s more of an off guard.

A lot of talk about players training with DDR, and DDR developing players. I am just not sure what a high volume mid-range shooter who is poor defensively is going to teach anyone in today's NBA. He had an unbelievable season and is the best at what he does offensively. The problem is what he does really doesn't translate unless you are absolutely elite. Like the best in the world elite.
DDR can certainly show them some moves to free up for 10-15' range jump shots. I am not sure that is really what we want the young guys focusing on.
There are tons of things a seasoned vet like DDR can teach a young player. Too numerous to name.
Actually true. Just not so much basketball skill related. Work ethic...maybe. What it is like to be in the NBA. Preparing for an 82 game season. Absolutely.

Seeing how Branham's biggest skill is his midrange game, is be utterly surprised if he couldn't learn how to have en effective career from the king of the midrange.
Also as Dresden pointed out, he's a long time vet and multiple All-star selection which means he's one of the best to play the game. Just learning to be a pro is a huge plus for a young player.
You know more about Branham than me. If that is his biggest skill though, I would prefer the Bulls make a different pick.

Yeah plenty to learn, because Derozan is top 3 in the league in the most effective scoring play in the game. Not the 3 pointer, not a post up. The shooting foul. A 35% 3P shooter generates 1.05 points per shot. A shooting foul on Derozan is worth 1.75 points, overwhelmingly more efficient. Derozan is top 3 in the league in FTs along with Embiid & Giannis.
Derozan is also the 2nd best isolation player in the league, behind Trae and ahead of Tatum, Embiid, and Joker. His best play isn't getting free for an open 15 footer like Joe Harris. Derozan's best game is attacking his defender's chest, getting his defender off balance and up in the air, and making contact for 2 easy ones.
If Branham becomes as good as Derozan with physical play and drawing fouls, as good as Derozan inside the arc, and maintains his 41% 3P shooting on more volume, he's probably the best guard in the league.
Yeah but you don't always get the foul call. Certainly, when you do it is the most efficient scoring play. But I agree, I overlooked that.
I have never watched Branham. All I know is reading a couple draft reports, his stats and game logs. He averaged less than 3 3-point attempts per game. He had 2 big games from 3. In the other 30 games he shot 36% from the college 3 point line and averaged about 2 per game. 6'5" guard not known for any passing skills. He took 89 total 3 point shots. His mid-range game is described as "old school pull-up". Not especially athletic, average at best.
The consensus seems to be that if that 3 point shooting translates he could end up a starter somewhere; but likely not for a while. If it doesn't translate he likely won't be an asset.
I am not convinced he's the guy for the Bulls. But again, the numbers and profiles don't tell the whole story. There could be something there I am missing.

I'm sorry, did you really just attempt to state that a 3 time all NBA star player cannot teach a younger player basketball skill related things?

What kind of dirt does Kendrick Perkins have on ESPN to get put on every basketball show they have. They are even pushing him on the draft coverage stuff and it is cringe worthy.

He sucks. But after the Moses Moody draft there’s at least now a chance he will provide the highlight of the evening. His scouting report on Moody followed in the second round by Richard Jefferson just going all in on him straight up to his face are two of my favorite NBA draft coverage moments ever.
But nothing beats Fran Frischella’s impromptu scouting report right after Jan Vesely got drafted.
If you know nothing of these things, Google is your friend but it can’t duplicate the impact when live.

You mean someone who won't start this year, or someone who won't start ever? Because I think some of the players that could be available absolutely could start one day.

For those who have been scouting and following these players closely for the draft, what’s the difference between Liddell and Eason and why pick one over the other?

NBAtv mock draft show just had us taking Jake LaRavia from Wake Forest.
Said they like his “floor as a role player.”

Yeah I almost cancelled my cable when I saw that. What a trash selection. I would bet everything I have that there's no chance of that happening.

Eason is more athletic, longer wingspan, faster. Lot of highlight reel plays, likes to dribble and use his athleticism. More of an athletic defender, tons of steals. Soph.
Liddell is 240+ lbs so more of the traditional slower PF. Not tall at 6' 6" or 6' 7". Kinda looks like PJ Tucker. More of a paint protector, tons of blocks. Junior.
I think you would pick Eason if you were OK with developing an athletic, little bit younger guy w/ good athleticism and ability to play wing or small PF. Liddell is a defensive 3&D guy that you would hope to plug & play right away. He compared himself to PJ Tucker, Grant Williams, Paul Millsap. I think he understands he's going to be a roleplayer on the next level. Eason compared himself to Jerami Grant, Kawhi Leonard, Herb Jones. He considers himself to be a versatile 2-way player and not just a defender.

Thank you so much! It looks Eason has the lower floor, but higher ceiling compared to Liddell. I think Liddell might fit with the team better and gives somewhat of a different role on this team as a back up to Williams. Eason seems somewhat redundant with Williams.

I mean we won't find starters from day 1 next season at #18.Interesting prospects but that's all,we can safely go BPA.My preference still is drafting Mark Williams if available but I believe AK will try to trade his pick.
If we have #1 I'd go for Jaden Yvey.Magic ,Thunder and the Kings will likely regret not drafting him .
