I'll be shocked if Jabari isn't the pick at this point

Can you really say that with all certainty knowing who our FO are and their history of this?

Woj being certain on Jabari has likely increased Smith’s betting odds lead.

No but I just find it really odd for only Jabari to be given media time in magic gear after his workout. Don't get me wrong, I can see us taking Chet or Paolo... I just don't think it's likely. But you never know.

If you think about its, its really like the 3 top picks, all very different skillset.

Jabari- had a 2 hr workout with all the media hoopla

Chet- had a 2 day workout/interview/wine and dine but yet not a peep out of both parties except for some stolen pics

Paolo- has a conflicting info where on side said we did work him put but the other said he is ducking us.

With our history of even picking guys we haven't worked out, picking guys that we supposedly had secret workouts, picking guys that aren't in our radars... well... nothing is certain. Lol

Front office can be a tight lipped as they want at #5 but at #1 everyone is up in your business. I'd be shocked if it wasn't Jabari

The missing piece has always been a true #1 scoring option. Finding enough guys to cobble together a top 15 defense isn't hard, finding a build around weapon on offense is. What makes Jabari special to me is his potential as a scorer. His defense is icing on the cake.

His defense is something you can rely on. If you're hoping for him to be a leading scorer for this team then you have unrealistic expectations. More hope. Maybe it happens, but probably not. If all he is, is something similar to Klay. An off ball shooter, then that is still worthy of the pick because we need someone who can frustrate perimeter shooters to balance the interior defense we have with Isaac, Carter and Bamba.

The missing piece you speak of like Ivey and Mathurin are not BPA so we won't take them. But simply by mere position, there are not many leading men in today's NBA who play PF.

Suggs is not a leading scorer either so the hunt must go on.

Franz has the potential to be a legit leading scorer on a title team. He would be the unanimous #1 knowing what he did last season. His ceiling is absurdly high and he is really an after thought for too many people. What is Franz weakness? Mid range? the least efficient shot in the NBA.

On a true championship caliber team, I still see him as a number 2 or 3. He's not on the level of Giannis, Curry, Durant, Lebron, etc.

what history??

Isaac and Bamba were absolutely normal picks, surely were no big surprise picks,so was Suggs last year.

Okeke was a bit surprising, just for the injury, but was a weham prototype if there is one.

Anthony was a surprise...at# 15 yes,lol

everyone in the league knew weham pick since the beginning cause everyone know weltman and hammond pretty well, they know the way they work.

and so,Jabari smith has been the only possible choice since day one:good guy, worker, teachable, good measurements, willingness to play defence, low % of being a bust,so safest bet in the most dangerous spot of the draft, pretty weham thing

Ever since The Magic won The lottery, it has been Jabari Smith Jr. for me and that has not changed.

Franz? We didnt even knew we worked him out or he wad the team that made a promise for hom to shutdown all workouts. So a surprise.

Suggs was a no brainer

Cole, yeah he was a surprise because he isn't a WeHam pick

Okeke is a surprise as well because lots of noise it was supposedly NAW

Bamba yeah.. the leftover pick

JI was a surprise because at that time it was DSJr who worked out twice and had the nost interaction with out team ( at least media-wise)

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.
