I'm obviously a Celtics fan but I had a similar question, who did they trade to get him? I'm not sure Payton Prichard, Grant Williams, and Al Horford gets it done haha

If you are smart enough, you don’t trade your young stars Tatum or Brown + Smart or RW3 for 34y old KD, who played 90 games in last 3 seasons.

Acting like Tatum, Brown, RW3, and Smart are all untouchable assets for a top 5 player is pretty ridiculous. Durant will age well because his game isn’t heavily reliant on athleticism. No question if it was Durant on the Celtics instead of Tatum he wouldn’t have fizzled, the Celtics check all the boxes KD needs to do his thing which is knock down tough shots and create space for his shooters. This isn’t a rental either like Kawhi since he is already signed for the remainder of his best years.

Irving is looking to steal money and kd is a willing accomplice.

There guys care more about getting paid and getting attention than about getting wins.

Good luck to the nets, they have no choice but to cave in.

Bucks paid future picks for Holiday and it resulted in a Championship. Lakers threw the entire asset haul at AD and it resulted in a Championship. If the Celtics want to stand pat on all their “future” then they might not be holding up any trophies.

They may have dodged a bullet with KD-Kyrie. But then took a bullet straight on next off season by paying Randle a max contract, a long with bad deals for Evan Fournier and Derrick Rose.

That outcome was much worse.

The Knicks are still the Knicks.

Randle is a bad contract. However, Rose--sadly our best pg over the last two years--has just one more year at $14,520,730. Fournier--again sadly the best 3-pt-shooter (.389%) and second-best eFG% (.541%) among our usual starting five--has just two more years at $19,500,000 per year. Accordingly, while this roster is not competing for a championship soon (ever), Rose and Fournier are relatively cheap for their production and soon to be gone, and we still have all our picks moving forward. (That Randle signing though.... :banghead: )

Compared to this...your starting point guard is a part-time player/full-time flat-earther currently holding the franchise hostage for a max contract. He is abetted in this attempted shakedown by your 34-year-old, oft-injured, always passive-aggressive, super-max "superstar," while your young gun max "all-star" just took last year off to focus on playing COD. Oh, and you have none of your own picks until something like 2044.

No offense, but I think we're in a race to the bottom...and you're winning.

Why does the Harden trade feel like the Garnett Pierce trade all over again for the Nets? Emptying the treasure chest for an old veteran doesn't appear to be a good idea :D

This time it'll be Houston instead of Boston getting all these top 10 unprotected picks.

Did you look at, how old these two were? Did you look at, where these team were? Did you look at, what price did they pay?

With KD you would have max 2y window to win it all and BOS won’t be GSW2017.

LoL. It's always the same posters...

Yeah, players are totally robots and they never remember that stuff.

This is the same guy that had a 3-1 lead then lost only to join the team he lost to. I highly doubt he really cares and this notion that fans were cheering specifically for his injury, well that's just misinformation. My goodness stop with the pettiness and let it go already.

It's not at all like that.
The Celtics guys were over the hill and done. Harden was not.
The Nets had a fugazi star. These Nets have KD.
The Nets pivoted & were only able to get Thad Young (who later became LeVert) post Celtics trade. Post Harden trade the Nets still have KD locked up for 4 years, and after the Harden pivot wound up with Simmons (a 25 year old 3x allstar), Curry (3rd best 3pt shooting % of all time & one of the league's best value contracts) plus recovered 2 FRPs (one unprotected & the other lightly protected).

The Nets without Kyrie are still a playoff caliber team. In fact KD currently has a better record with the Nets when Kyrie doesn't play versus when he does play.

Should KD ask out, he should return the largest haul ever seen. Never has a top 5 player locked up for 4 years been traded before.

KD value isn’t TOP5 in NBA. I could say he isnt TOP5 player at this age alone.

Why are you putting commas in independent clauses? Championships are earned and sometimes they take sacrifice in an extremely competitive conference. Boston won’t be handed trips to the Finals by only continuity. If they aren’t willing to give up prospects or picks to get better immediately that’s fine, but they shouldn’t expect that their rivals won’t do that to win. Miami, Milwaukee, Toronto, Philly, Brooklyn, and Chicago have all proven that they are willing to give up assets for win now improvements.

Wiggins, Poole, Wiseman for Durant.
Who can offer a better package?

Exactly. It's an obvious negotiation tactic. "You want me, pay my buddy."

It's always weird to me how many NBA fans don't understand stuff like this.

Well... I've said all along Stone did a great job on the Harden trade. Starting to look maybe even greater...
