Jerami Grant this, Jerami Grant that. For a guy I can’t picture Grant has been making a lot of trade speculation news for years.
Looking at his stats he gets himself to the freethrow line well but does not look good in other stats.
Is Jerami Grant actually any good.
Bucks will probably still be good in 2025. Bucks 2025 pick is not a high price to pay for a player.

Watch the guy play a game or two and you’ll find out.

Clickbait trash. I would be embarrassed to call myself a sports writer and publish that ****. No sources, no actual understanding of Portlands front office or fan base, no quotes. Dame has NEVER, EVER, EVER EVER EVER been on the trade market. EVER. stop.

This isn't exactly true. Pacers have done this and had some nice teams for a bit, same with Utah, Toronto won a chip with Kawhi and only had one real down year last year, Miami did that. A lot of teams maybe have one bad year without really intending to and then retool like this.
Contender or tank is simply not a real concept. Lottery odds are a scary game to play and you can just simply suck for a while. Even if you team loses in the 2nd or 3rd round, there is value in creating a culture of where people want to play. For certain teams it's important to tank, like the Magic, who tried to make things work with Fournier-Vucevic for too long, but other teams with stars can re-tool easier.
It's a real concept. Philly already completed its contender or tank (whether they're a false contender or not doesn't matter, it's the perception that you have contender which ends the tanking). OKC is currently doing their own rendition at a much quieter volume.
I agree there's a lot of value (both intangible and $) to reaching the 2nd round or later but 8 teams do so and you have a pretty good idea whether your roster is capable of making you one of those 8 before the season ever starts. I wouldn't bulldoze a perennial playoff team like the Dame/CJ Blazers even if I didn't believe they were a contender. But we're talking about a minority of the league here. Unless their owners are desperately in need of ticket revenue, shouldn't each of the others see the writing on the wall and act to secure the best chance of getting a high draft pick?

Yeah, I mean, it can be attempted and actualized, sometimes to great effect, I'm just arguing that there seems to be a lot of devaluing of re-tooling or not tanking right away for some teams that could still improve. Securing a high draft pick should certainly be the move for some teams, I just don't like how quickly some people argue for tearing something down that they barely gave a chance to.

This thread has taught me that realgm really overrates the state of the leagues “powerhouses” outside of maybe Golden State?
Portland threw last season away when it was clear Dame was going to be injured for the extent of it, funny how quickly y’all forget this mans track record for making the most of not being surrounded by other stars.
They are close to a legit squad, if you actually know what you’re talking about - and I am tempted to bookmark this thread and follow up lol. Actually wait to the end of this day even and maybe we will be singing a diff note..

Pistons had a better record last season in games Grant didn't play. It was clear to anyone watching that they played their best basketball when Cade and Bey were the focal points of the offense.
I think moving on from a guy that wasn't helping you win games, avoiding extending him for 25M/y and getting some draft capital is a win.

I think it was decent for both. I wouldn’t judge grant off playing for a bottom feeder. The blazers should be back in the playoffs this year with a recharged dame/Nurk and gang, we should see Grant at his nicest

Salary dump to get Ayton. Took me a second to realize what Detroit was doing but smart move on their part.

That won't make them a contender so why would they do that?Rainwater wrote:FreeThrowLine wrote:Absolute steal for the Blazers, he will be great for them.

That's super premature, lol. That squad is young, you don't even know what they will become yet. Their best player, Cade, is only 19 and could be a future star. Ayton is still young himself and is good second option. They still have the 5th pick that might be Ivy and a pretty good supporting cast with Bey.

Everyone is still scratching their heads at the Clippers deal. I guess we get to see if they actually have a plan and that was just a "half-a-trade" like they claimed both that and the CJ deal was. They somewhat fulfilled that promise with the half-a-trade CJ deal when they did this Grant trade. But they have a big bar of crap to jump over for that Clippers trade to look someone better.

I think if Grant can buy into his new role with the Blazers and not put up a lot of low efficiency long 2s then he could be a great get for you guys. But is someone in that role worth >25M/y? I'm not so sure.
