Re: 2022 NBA Draft Part II
Uh.. what happened here???
TBF, we do have history of picking players we havent worked out with. So i wouldn't be surprised if we do that with PB again but we are also one of the most tight-lipped FOs in the league.. so what gives?

Orlando notoriously don't give much away. It could be any of the top 3 that they want really.
I still think it's possible they could trade out of top 3 entirely. They are a mystery to me.
But Orlando don't share this info, they are one of the most secretive if not the most secretive. So who's been pushing that info?

Exactly this. We are so secretive. We wouldn't even know that Chet worked out for us for 2 days if not for some stolen pics of him in Orlando wearing Magic gear.
So whichh camp is blowing smoke?

Well apparently they're not that secretive because it looks like they are in fact picking the guy everyone says they're going to pick since the lottozimpy27 wrote:K_chile22 wrote:I mean, every reporter worth his salt has said they want Jabari and they're pretty sure it's gonna be Jabari, including Woj a few hours ago. Re: 2022 NBA Draft Part II
Nice consensus big board. Looks about right, Paolo being consensus #1 median/mode player.
This will serve as a basis for 'consensus' before the draft so 3 years from now, we don't have Captain Hindsights making crazy claims.

I've been saying this draft was unusually deep, and I even rationalized it being a result of the health issue nationally.

other than running faster in a straight line what does Ivey do better than Davis?
I think Davis is being slept on a bit but I think it's pretty obvious why Ivey is higher regarded. Elite athleticism with the ability to draw in a defense when attacking the paint, creating easier shots for himself (as opposed to Davis who has to work like crazy to get shots off) or kicking out to open shooters. He's also a more efficient scorer which is more a testament to how inefficient Davis was than Ivey's efficiency and is partially due to, as I mentioned before, Ivey's ability to create better looks for himself due to his ability to blow by defenders.
I actually like Davis quite a bit because of his ability to hit tough shots, that killer mentality he has and determination on the defensive end but Ivey is a better prospect for a reason. The concerns with Davis are twofold, potential to be a high volume chucker and not much of a playmaker/lacking the athleticism to gain separation.

The bets are closed on the big books.
Jabari is also at -10000 elsewhere. Those lines are there to discourage bets on Bari.

not unusually deep at all - this is usually the case. all players believe they are going to go high. that's why they stay in the draft. unfortunately for many of them it's not the case at all.

Just to explain it. The claim is that a betting syndicate was trying to manipulate last night by hammering Paolo's odds on all books, they will revert the next morning to bet on Jabari. This is why all the bigger books has had their top 3 pick bets closed before the draft.
Smaller books are trying to discouraging the second leg of the by setting the line to something unrealistic like -600 or even -10000. This way that second leg of the strategy goes up in smokes.
The line themselves and their associated odds mean nothing right now. By all accounts Woj is likely right. Sportbooks are just trying to protect themselves while taking on some sucker bets on Jabari (sucker relative to the odds).

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Part II
Best player in the draft is Bari by a tier, hope the Magic don't overthink this and pull the trigger, even tho on the surface Paolo might be a better fit because of their personnel, take the best player in a tier of his own and figure out the rest later.

Jake LaRavia blocking Mark Williams shot 2:55
minute mark. Duren is the better prospect between these two centers...

All Orlando needs to do now is draft Dwight & Hedo clones and they'll be good enough to lose in the finals.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Part II
Jabari is not a #1 on a good nba team.
Perimeter players with weak handles are generally roleplayers unless they are also plus defensive players, which he does look like.

If you are running GS and they need a C do you go after a C at 28, or just go BPA and hope it hits?
