It's the wee hours of the night on the eve of the NBA draft, and there are people still out there hating on NBA Champion and nobel peace prize humanitarian Andrew Wiggins. Really evil world we live in.

He's no Aaron Wiggins.

Balls of steel move by the suns by not bending to Ayton’s demands, i totally love it. But they could have traded him sooner.

I really like it too and think it's ultimately the correct move. Without CP3 spoonfeeding him he's a Richaun Holmes tier center (imo). And it seems like they can get a lot of value for him in a S&T.
Maxing him just because you feel obligated is cowardly playing not to lose general managing, as opposed to trying to win.

I see some logic there. Murray can take all of the tough defensive assignments and can also share ball handling duties so Trae gets more looks off ball to take advantage of his elite shooting.

Appreciate the Ayton sentiment but I think we might be giving them a little too much credit. Feels likely that it’s just Sarver being cheap lol.

Biyombo looked real good to me when McGee was not available

Hawks needs to play like Cavs do. 2-3 bigs. If teams attack Trae, Hawks traps and reset the rotation. It worked for the Cavs. They should rather double down on guard offense and load up on 3-4-5. Atleast have a Wiggins-Draymond-Looney type 3-4-5 unit then have 1-2 anchor the offense. Gravitate the defense to the perimeter and get easy looks at the paint

Man, you're really pushing this "2 big" system. Which is strange because the Warriors and Celtics played like one true big at any time.

Depends on your definition of “true”. True like a immobile big like whiteside or gobert, then you can’t play two of those.
But 2 guys who can play 5? Yes. Even Heat lowkey played it with Bam and Tucker. I have Al and Draymond as two guys who can play 5, who are also playing with a 5.
The alternative is the playing with two tweener size players at 3-4, like Jazz and Nuggets. And us before with Ben. And likely us, if Tucker signed with us.
Its because you need to play defense with your big stepping out on the two man game and yet be able to protect the paint. Another one is if you have a weak link, you need to trap and recover on defense, and the only way to do it constantly well is with size to delay or to protect the paint.

If Draymond and PJ Tucker (both around 6'5) play the "5", then I'm a multimillionaire.

Tucker played 5 with the rox for an entire season. Draymond plays lots of 5 on Warriors small ball.
Anyway, you’ll see my point when we stay on our course and with our our defense and rebounding problems persists

Yea, I think you need to specify small ball 5, because he's not really a true 5. Which is why I'm confused why teams want to mimic the Cavs structure, a team that couldn't make it out of the play in round.
I think the Blazers switchable 6'9 forwards approach makes more sense than that.

Re: Around The League: 2021-2022 Season 2.0
Draymond is a very unique player and I'd wish people would stop trying to replicate that lol.
also he has started next to a real center his whole career and only played the 5 is short stints...also also while Looney is undersized he is a traditional center in terms of role. ...also also Wiggins (and formerly Durant) are good-great rebounders and rim protectors at the 3.
So its more than just oh Draymond plays the 5 so any 6'5 guy with an attitude can do it.
(also that Rocket team w/ PJ at the 5 went out sad/ sucked and he hasn't played the 5 that much since)
The elephant in the room is that Ben's defense is what made us elite...and we haven't replaced that size, rebounding and switchability. Adding another center or PF alone doesn't fix that...because that guy needs to be sf fast and that guy is very sought after. Its why Ben's lack of shot was so crushing because he negated the gain of his defense on offense...but with Harden and Maxey here..he's ironically is the exact guy we need.
I'd see if the Wolves are looking to move off Vanderbilt for that very reason if thats the route you want to take. of course the guy at the 3 needs to be an absolute sniper....sooooo

If this is around the spot that Moore gets taken I’m gonna be pissed we didn’t find a way to do this deal.

Could you imagine being the Nets? They're gonna sell Kyrie for pennies on the dollar (similar to Harden) and then need to figure out what to do with KD.
The rest of their picks are with Houston. That's so brutal. But hey, at least Ben has his own team now!

Yeah, we know all about that. Hopefully Morey wipes all those bad memories away tonight and into next week.
