Prediction: I don’t know what we’ll do w/the pick, but I’m thinking Eason will be available, we’ll pass, half the board will melt down, and years later, it won’t matter.

Not sure if Tari Eason will be available at 18,his ceiling can be high,needs a lot of work on some aspects of his game but still a very interesting player who would help us a lot.

50% stay with #18
5% move up (unlikely, almost nothing to move up with...)
30% move down
15% trade for a current player (Bulls need 1st nba contract guys at this point, not overpriced veterans...)

That's a really simplistic viewpoint. DDR can teach those kids how to prepare and live as professionals. He can teach them how to get to their spots. He can teach them his offseason conditioning workout.

Just because DDR is great at midrange, doesn't mean that's all he has learned in his long NBA career.

The discussion was about Branham. Drafting him and having him work out with DDR Everything I read about him says his level of success will likely depend on if his 3 point shooting translates. Is DDR the guy you want helping with that?

I'm not saying DDR'S wisdom wouldn't be helpful or that if the Bulls draft him he shouldn't do that. But DDR is being looked at as a guy who is going to help develop all the young players. I don't see him as being any better for them than any other vet player. Maybe even less so.

Yeah, I guess that's fair. But I also don't see many vets escorting a rookie to a college ceremony (Ayo's jersey retirement). Or inviting several young players to work out with him over the summer. Maybe DDR is more likely to take a young guy under his wing than just about ANY other vet.

With Tari, I'd say the focus for his development will be 3 things. He'll need to continue improving at his 3pt shot. He'll need to get way better at using his offhand and going left. And he'll need to get better with finishing strong and not avoiding contact. Honestly if he can do this, I see high level starter in his future.

At the time I said that we were 8-3 and 1st in the Eastern Conference. I meant it partially in a joking manner, basically saying "Hey, we're actually good for once and we no longer have to micro-analyze every top 7 draft prospect since we won't be picking in the lottery for once."

If we keep 18 - I want Jovic, and I'd stash him for a year.

Would love to trade back with Memphis for their two 1sts, if Jovic is still available when they pick. Stick to the stash Jovic plan, and take someone else with 29.

I would say a draft and stash strategy isn’t ideal either considering the current roster as constructed. The window to compete for a title is short with DDR being under contract for 2 more years and him being 33 years old. Ideally the Bulls attempt to use this pick to improve the team with a win now approach.

I agree, that's why I"m not high on Dieng or Jovic. Both guys seem like they are 3-4 years away from being contributors.

It's funny because this is exactly why I want to target a draft and stash candidate. In my view, a vet min player will be more beneficial to this team than a rookie, any rookie, we could take at 18.

We've got 10 guys under contract, I'd like to keep Zach and DJJ. After that, which brings us to 12. A player or two with the tax-pater MLE and 1-2 vet min contracts are needed more than someone at 18.

People rally like Liddell and he may be good. But in 2022-23, Thad Young, Batum, Milsap, Griffin, and others - I think would all provide more.

I generally expect the Bulls to trade the pick, but I have a mild personal bias hoping the Bulls draft EJ Liddell. He led a rival high school to two state championships, and my coworker just told me yesterday that his cousin grew up with EJ and they still keep in touch. Told him he needs to get that cousin to bring Liddell to the restaurant we work at once he gets that bag.
