Pistons interested now with Hayward and Pick from Hornets...
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10039700-nba-rumors-hornets-gordon-hayward-interests-pistons-in-trade-ahead-of-2022-draft
"Detroit Pistons GM Troy Weaver is one of Duren's biggest fans in the NBA, sources say, and could very well look to target him in a draft night trade if he continued to slide down the board, especially to Charlotte, which has been identified as a possible trading partner for the Pistons in a potential Gordon Hayward deal."
Man this is going to be interesting.

Sounds speculative, like the writer of the blurb is putting two and two together and connecting dots that may not warrant connection.
Any move we make along these lines would likely wish to preserve our max cap space, which in this case would require them to take at least some salary back. I don’t really see it.

For the Hornets, part of the appeal to this trade would be eliminating the only team that currently has $30+ million to offer Bridges the max. If they could lock Bridges into a 4 year $100 million deal I'm sure they'd be pretty happy with that versus having to match a MAX offer sheet.

That we just traded for major cap space is fact. That the Hornets may be interested in attaching a pick to Hayward to clear space is out there.
The connection being made between those two things, unless there’s more to it than you posted, is speculative.

13 and 15 to take on his contract is a no brainer. one of them for taking on his contract, but also being able to offload Olynyk, no brainer (for me at least, but less of a no doubt great deal). One of the picks to take on his contract straight up, I'm a little iffy on.
We're talking about two years, not one year. One year remaining and you take only one pick, I would do that. But you're locking up a lot of cap space for next offseason for a single mid-first pick.

I've also read that the Pistons have been active in trade talks and are looking to get an additional first round pick this draft. It'll be interesting to see if they are shopping their cap space as a means to grab a pick, or if its something else they are looking to trade to make a move.... Of course a move might only be made if a player they are targeting is available at a pick they can trade for.

That’s what I’m saying. 13, 15 and Hayward for 36. Pray Hayward can stay healthy, Lakers don’t trade Westbrook, and feel Hayward is a roster upgrade at the deadline. Be the team that waives Westbrook.

Sounds like a sellers market for picks. Odd given this is supposed to be a poor draft.
There’s no way we get both picks, and them taking on Kelly on top of that is unlikely IMO.
Unless the rumor is BS, Hayward and one of the picks is probably there if we want it. I’m unsure Weaver goes that way- it means we can’t try for Ayton.

Yea, I would do that. 13 and 15 seems too much for Charlotte if we're being honest. Getting back 36 may make it more realistic.

If Weaver is interested in also grabbing Duren, he's going to have to get a pick a hell of a lot higher then #13.
Duren will be gone by pick 10 100%

Yeah if you want Duren trading down is probably more viable than trading for a whole other pick.

Something has to give. I don’t understand Weavers obsession with traditional centers.

All we need is Ayton, Beef Stew and Duren. I feel like this is the Center free agent frenzy all over again with Jahlil Okafor, Plumlee and Deadmon lol

Sprinkle in DeAndre Jordan’s cap hit and the unnecessary KO 3 year deal

I think Ayton can be a very good player, but his how the center position has essentially been devalued. I’m cool with taking a lesser center. Whether that be someone like Duren or someone like Bamba.
And if you’re going to reference Dedmon, at least include Tony Bradley. He was here just as long

Unless it’s an Embiid , Jocic or super dynamic center, I don’t really get allocating huge resources to the center position.
The new NBA is generally about exploiting mismatches.
I just don’t see the current championship formula including a pricy traditional center.

That’s primarily what I’m saying. Would I be horrified if we signed, no. But as far as the NBA is now, spend your money elsewhere and add specialists like Kelly (I get he had a bad season) and/or use the draft to add one. And just do a center by committee thing.
I don’t think Bamba gets a crazy offer, unless New York or Sacramento get desperate

Looks like he will be the pick at 13. No mention of a trade.
Makes me think a deal isn’t in the works.
