I mean as long as we're stipulating that trading #13 just to dump Hayward is dumb... agreed.

I mean if you clear $50M, get a future 1st and 4 2nds--that feels like solid value for pick 13 to me. Again operating on the assumption that they have very clear financial constraints and have talked themselves into paying Bridges a fortune(not sure they should but...)

I don't grade on a curve for ownership cheapness.

It;s not a curve. It's what they would be getting. I'm just explaining why they would have done it.

But it doesn't really matter since I just made it up lol.

Where’d you see that? This is very confusing. Like, what is NY paying to include Kemba.

I think they're trading the Milwaukee 1st for the 13, then packaging that and Kemba to the Pistons.

But then again I have no freaking idea so take that with a pile of salt.

Yeah, I like this a lot.

Assuming he's not part of a 27-team trade being put together.

Yeah someone please just tell me specifically in detail what the Knicks did. There's all these reporters and they won't tell me! I'm going nuts haha

But it's not like Hayward is dead money and it doesn't seem like they'd be doing anything with that cleared $50 million other than making their owner's life easier. So that's why I don't view that as a good move. It's one thing to spend a second or two to clear $5 million to evade the tax. But this is still a lotto pick.

I know very little about Jalen Williams. I wonder if there was a concern that he was getting drafted soon after 12?

But how is NY getting the 13 from Charlotte? Or, if the Milwaukee first goes from Detroit to Charlotte, what is NY doing in this deal to salary dump Kemba?

My guess:

#11(Dieng)+Fournier to OKC
#13(Duren)+Kemba to Pistons
DEN23FRP(via OKC)+MIL25FRP(via DET) to CHO
DET23FRP(via OKC) to NYK

- Knicks open $30m capspace to get Brunson
- Det get Duren
- Hornets get 2 future picks for #13
- OKC get Dieng and take Fournier into capspace.

there are so many questions in this trade, I highly doubt it's complete

Maybe they tossed one of the future picks they just got from OKC to Charlotte? I find it hard to believe the Hornets just gave up Duren for that distant Bucks pick alone.

I don't know the trade but I imagine we got a 1st from the Knicks for taking on Kemba, so they can pursue Brunson, and we sent Milwaukee and that 1st for Charlotte for Duren.

you don't get a first for taking on 10 mil expiring

But didn't they trade #11 for those first round picks? I'm very lost at this point.

They can't announce the details until all the picks are in, so there must be later picks involved.

Maybe the Knicks are the ones adding (at least some of) all the 2nds that Charlotte is getting?

It seems like NY had a trade in place with the Hornets for #13, then Detroit stepped in and NY flipped #13 to them.
