Real steady guy. Seems like a vet already. McConnell on the move?

Re: Rd 2, pick 31, Pacers select Andrew Nembhard
First thought I’d we have too many guards and this draft as much as KP gave us hope is very disappointing for quickly rebuilding.
Gotta do something this FA market or be a salary dump for others and go hard next year.
Mathurin is a huge bright spot but it’s not enough.

The Ringer NBA draft page on Nembhard has his NBA comparison as Malcolm Brogdon haha

Yet another guard? We're cornering the market!

The pick is solid but I thought for sure the pick would be Liddell when he got through the first round.

Nembhard looks like a point guard prospect. So I guess McConnell or Stephenson are not happy. Brogdon has no comment ha !
So much for KP saying they hoped to get another first round pick. Smoke ? Or nobody willing to trade ?

It's hard to become too picky in round 2. There are certainly guys in round 2 who will turn out to be good players but the hit rate goes down. You really can't become concerned with position or need, IMO.
Brogdon and McConnell are not in the long-term plans regardless of this pick.
If Nembhard turns into a capable player I can see them playing him with Haliburton. They have some versatility there and Nembhard can enable Haliburton to play off the ball some.
I just hope he turns into a good pro. It might not be an ideal fit today but you draft for the long-term.
Unfortunately, the results delivered by this Pacers front office for the last 10+ years indicates we shouldn't be optimistic about making the right choice in the draft especially when it gets tougher deeper into the draft. I just hope Rick is the influence needed to make the right decisions.

If he’s that good this is a great pick. Gotta wonder what we are doing with Brogdan, Hield and TJ.

Tonight, no one really traded out of the first round, except NY from 11? And they got 3 future firsts to do so. THere just may not have been a chance to do so?

Or nobody wanted Brogdon? Let's face it. Would you want to pay $20M per year for the next two years to a guy who is only going to play half of each season?

Kevon Looney has missed a TON of games in the nba. This year, he was one of only 5 players to play in every single regular season game. Something he’d never done before, and only once been anywhere close.
You can’t predict future health. But you can predict that Brogdon will be a good player when he does play. Teams will make that risk. Milwaukee did. We did, too. Someone else will.

Here’s an interesting and baffling fact. The Pacers worked out 31 non ranked prospects which none have been drafted tonight !
So are they trying to find a new team of G league recruits for the Ants ? They have 1 pick left at 58 and 8 other ranked workout guys who haven’t been picked yet.

Y'all will be very pleased with Nembhard. He's highly slept on.
He doesn't have all-star potential but he's good at everything and plays hard. You have yourself a legit backup PG for years to come.
Think of him as a Tyus Jones level play and we all saw how important Tyus was to the Grizzlies to the season.
Haliburton-Nembhard is a terrific PG duo to build on for years to come.
Also please leave some Canadians for the rest of us, lol.
Y'all got some solid young Canadian pieces - Mathurin, Nembhard, Duarte, Brissett
