Wow....I just realized, Hou is likely going to be at the bottom of the league next year again with no vets and so many rookies (part of the plan). They are going to have a high chance at Wembanyama or even Scoot, their 2 weakest positions imo...that would be crazy if it comes to fruition.

Considering they just have his number to Banchero I’d say no.

Zero chance. Moe Wagner is better and cheaper... and he is a friend of Doncic ;)
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

There’s some potential in there, to go with proven veterans. Kings might finally make the playoffs again.

I mean other than Hardy being horrible?

Also... you have Hardy starting over Davion?

What a wild, unpredictable night.

Can’t wait for Summer League.

*Side note, screw that egomaniac Woj for spoiling such a crazy moment. I’m sure I’m not alone in this thinking. I avoided twitter all day just for this nerd to spoil #1 on the live broadcast. Despicable.

Now that Paolo is the pick, the move should be to get a floor spacing guard at either spot. If he’s going to be the centerpiece playmaker of the offense we gotta get some shooting in the back court or we are going to have issues no matter how much he develops. Even if it’s just a cheaper veteran for now, we don’t need defenders cheating off our guards and getting extra bodies near Paolo trying to drive and get adjusted to the league as a rookie.

Regardless of who we chose at #1, I still feel like we wouldn’t have found THE guy. Paolo does have that kind of upside, and probably had the highest upside of the top 3 to be ‘the guy’, but I’m just not sure we have even a Cade level rookie let alone a Doncic one. I wonder how hard we’re going to actively tank next year. I don’t know how palatable actively tanking, like we did last year, will be with a healthy Fultz, healthy JI, healthy Suggs, sophomore Franz, young vet WCJ, and now Paolo trying to prove they can win.

2:04pm: The trade is complete, the Magic confirmed in a press release (Twitter link). In 2028, Orlando will receive either the Lakers’ or the Wizards’ second-round pick, whichever is better.

It’s unclear how much cash changed hands in the deal, but it will be no more than $2.15MM, since the Magic were prohibited from receiving more than that in a trade for the remainder of the 2021/22 league year.

Getting the #1 pick next year is an actual game change and I still think it’s in play. The Magic are still young, don’t spread the floor and aren’t exactly deep or loaded with guys who can stay healthy. Pistons only won 23 games with a rookie Cade, I dont think a rookie Paolo will move the needle all that much. I’d be surprised if we hit 30 wins next year. If we could actually pull off Victor we may actually have a title contender brewing.

I’m honestly not sure what’s more surprising, the Paolo pick or the fact that we didn’t trade 32.

Few thoughts:

1) is Rob alive?
2) was there scenario where Paolo would be aveliable at 3 and we could make a trade down and get asset in process?
3) What was ponit of parading with bunch of camera crews around Jabari after workout ?
4) can we finally now let go idea that Suggs and Fultz should share floor?

I went to sleep expecting Jabari to be a pick OR due gambling odds changing, Magic trading down.

Poor Jabari.
Had he come to Orlando, he might have been the primary offensive weapon.
But in Houston I have to wonder if he'll be a #2 after Jalen.
That has to be a bit of a letdown. And might slow his career a bit.
I'm just speculating of course.

i think every team wanted Paolo, and it was all just a big smoke screen to see if they could force it or somehow leverage a trade. I dont think he gets past OKC

Yeah... every play would require him 60% to shout to Green " pqss me the ball please " and 30% to KPJ " im open here "
