Melton is shooting 26.6% from three and 66.7% from the line in 15 playoff games for Memphis.

He is a pure defensive specialist until he proves otherwise.

He has 9 career playoff FT attempts lol. I’d love his percentages to be better but I’m not gonna sweat it too much for a 24 year old playing in his first two playoffs on a young team.

It was going to be a tough challenge to replace Green’s 3PAs. Here you did it while also adding legitimate defensive value. While I, and most here, would have preferred it in a wing sized package, that’s much harder to find. And he’s got a 6’9 wingspan so he can play up on D. It’s a good move.

What would a package of Maxey and Tobias get us? Hmm

I’m mentally preparing myself for when we’ll all be screaming at Doc to play more 3 guard lineups with Maxey/Harden/Melton.

Players who fit here that I'd trade Tyrese for:

Kawhi, PG13, Durant, Giannis, LeBron?, Tatum, Brown, Steph, Luka, Ja, Trae, Booker, Mitchell, LaMelo, Ant, Cade, Haliburton?, Garland?

Of those, only Durant and Mitchell *might* become available.

Can you think of any others?
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

I'll be surprised if this doesn't ultimately turn out to be a really solid move. Somebody from the field (23 and down) will surely be better, but that's the thing about fields.

You're like a wet blanket. We get it, you don't like him.

Little bit of Danny Green mixer with Eric Snow kind of a player. One of those second rounders I wanted the year he was drafted.

Not holding my breath. He could be a part of the bigger trade this summer.

Good solid player and excellent defender (can play bigger than his size on D)

Good trade, especially because Green didn't have value anymore because of that injury

Ditto, I saw him play alot this year and have been very impressed. Great trade, I think he fits so well and makes gives our bench a big improvement.

Royce O’Neal 6’4” height 6’9” wingspan 8.5 TRB%
Melton 6’4” height 6’8” wingspan 10.5 TRB%

Well, some people are speculating that because we brought in this munchkin, that Maxey could be heading out in a move for a veteran star. Which could be a disaster idea if it's for Brad Beal.

Just seems like a classic solid Morey move. Fills a glaring need with a 24 yr. old kid on his rookie deal who has already proven he can play in the league and brings it on both ends of the floor while giving up a player who is done for all intents and purposes and a pick we were realistically never going to use.

Listen, I would have loved to have seen a kid like Moore, Wesley, or Jovic, but the bottom line is that Melton was essentially a gift from the Nets, will slot right into the rotation, and we still have Thybulle and Harris as trade pieces - this is when the fun really begins.

If that happens, I will wholeheartedly retract the statement I just made.

It feels like Daryl watched the Finals and thought to himself that our offensive firepower can go toe-to-toe with these teams and all we need are the Gary Payton IIs of the world to support them. It feels like he's overrating our offensive firepower.

I remember someone here hyping Melton up during his draft and being mad that we didn't buy a pick to get him.
