When the Ignite played the Herd, Marjon spent a lot of time defending Rayjon Tucker. He made Tucker invisible.

I am happy that the kid can defend at least

The best players in college are better than the ones in the g league are they not? Why aren’t they getting pick #1 then?

The majority of G League players aren't draft cantidates though. They are grown-ass men and hardened professionals.

If your point is that there's more talent and potential in the NCAA. Absolutely. There's literally thousands of draft eligible 18-22 year olds plying their trade there. They rightfully see college ball as a great platform and development tool. The NCAA is still a colossus, it stands to reason that the majority of the best young talent still comes through this pathway.

Still, put the best college teams against a pro team from more or less any fully professional league, G League included, and they would be exposed for what they are; kids. The G League is a higher standard of competition than college and its not even close.

This isn't a video game where you sort everybody by imaginary skill points, competitive basketball actually involves competing. The gatorade league is more like guys working out individually and playing pick up basketball, the "hardened" professionals they're playing with are mostly wash out scrubs desperate to get theirs & be picked up anywhere and as soon as possible. There isn't plays or defense played, think of the all star game. Obviously they're the most talented on the planet but that's not competitive basketball. I don't think its where you want an immature prep player to develop, people like the idea of usurping the NCAA but there is zero equivalence as far as competitive basketball goes.

Good point and credit where credit is due i guess. Those college kids do try their little cotton socks off. We should really put their league on a pedestal.

The biggest thing that G League is missing is big men. That’s how a guy like Christian Wood can go down there and play like a God until he runs into another competent big man like Khem Birch, but college is just as bad in that department. Outside of a few teams, you have scrubs playing the 5 throughout. Hell, a ton of teams play with essentially 3 forwards forgoing the center position.

G League games are a bore to watch, but the talent down there (both players and coaches) is absolutely real. Nick Nurse didn’t get to where he is because of a bunch of AAU ball.

I like this pick I gave it a B. Has the physical tools you want in a prospect and I don't see broken shooting mechanics, it looks decent and very fixable. Defended well in the G League also, has the tools to be a great defender.

I had him ranked 20th in the draft and honestly thought he would be taken by the time we drafted. But that run of Kessler, Braun, and Laravia helped.

The whole league is looking for switchable wings so we took a chance on one at the end of the first rather than overpay in a trade.

Horst sees promise in his g-league experience too, and his unconventional route might have had other GM’s watching him less closely than they would have otherwise.

Now Horst’s draft record hasn’t been so great and maybe this flops. But if MarJon had all the tools out of the gate on both ends of the court he wouldn’t have been available when we picked.

I see the upside, I like the intangibles, but I just can’t shake that a few others might have been able to contribute sooner. I’m not mad at the pick like I have been with our previous picks, but he wasn’t my first 1-5 choices.

Hopefully he gets in the gym and works his butt off on that jumper and in 2-3 years we’re praising Horst.

Taking with a grain of salt but the Bucks say they didn’t think MarJon would be available at #24 and that’s why they were trying to move up.

“We got a player,” Bucks assistant general manager Milt Newton said Thursday night. “Versatile, can defend multiple positions, really athletic, great defender. He will fit in with our schemes and big-time competitor. A player that we really wanted. We didn’t think he was going to be there at 24, and we were desperately trying to move up to make sure that we could get an arrangement where we could get him, but he was there. And we’re happy with that selection.”

Newton revealed that the Bucks had their eye on Beauchamp throughout the season and also welcomed him to Milwaukee for two draft workouts, which led to Beauchamp feeling quite comfortable with the Bucks.

I love the fact he chose a path (defense & energy) as a means to get to the NBA, executed that plan perfectly and succeeded, that shows me intelligence and mostly a huge work ethic. I have screamed for youth and athleticism for some time, definitely going to give him a chance because he has that, he will play because defense plays with Bud, would’ve been nice to have someone to switch on to Brown or Tatum with length. If Beauchamp turns out to be a more athletic, better finishing Herb Jones, I’m happy, nobody thought Jones would shoot 40% from 3 his rookie year in the post season.

And I’m going to disagree with Beauchamp is much more quick twitch as they say and better, more explosive athlete.

Look man, if it's gonna be Duke all day everyday, the least you could do is sprinkle in some Mike Gminski anecdotes once in a while.

For the culture.

This is a classic GM cliche. This is their version of "giving 110%." All GMs/Assistant GMs feel their guy could've gone earlier.

We desperately needed to get more athletic so I like the pick.

It’s not all that important, but for the max reach nerds like me, I’d bet that marjon can hit the 12’ mark. The only one on our team who can hit that right now is Giannis.

I guess when you can somehow attend more high schools than Jalen Johnson, it's labeled 'adversity' rather than being a red flag.
