Hornets coaching search now includes a surprising name. And the interest is serious.

I don't know if Clifford's mistake-free, conservative approach will resonate with Lamelo's style. Maybe they'll sign and trade Bridges for Vuc

Lamelo read the Clifford reports in between Elbow-pass lessons at Jason Williams' house.

Honestly, if you are ready to push for a PO spot Steve is a solid coach. If you want to develop talent, however, he is not the guy for you.

I agree he is a good coach, but...

Would anybody really want him back in Orlando say in two years from now when we are ready to really compete? You think Charlotte fans want him back? He's a floor raiser for sure, and he would get the most out of that Charlotte team defensively in the short term.

I'd love to see what he could do with a team talent enough to be a contender. But could you really see a team with legitimate stars hiring Clifford. How would that work? A team like recent Lakers or Celtics last year.
I don't think Charlotte is there yet, but trying to envision the Charlotte offense under Clifford is kind of scary given how fun they are to watch.

I am not sure what 2 or 3 years would do to the long term success of Ball, Bridges, and maybe now Williams. I am sure they will learn some defense, but at what expense to their overall mood and offensive prowess.

Solid coach, if all the players they have buy-in... they could go 2nd round in the POs.

Was he the one who left us after a year or was that Skiles? These coaches get all jumbled together.

Good luck to him.

I would be pissed as a Hornets fan going from getting Atkinson, him backing out of the job and then settling for a rerun of Clifford.

IDK why that’s so hilarious to you. Solid coaching hire. He puts guys in position to succeed and teaches how to play the right. He’s also not scared to sit someone’s Ass down if they don’t give 100% effort. If Lamelo is as smart as he thinks he is then he’ll stfu and listen.

Good for Steve and the Hornets. A severely underrated coach who knows how to right the ship of a young immature team. He may not be the coach to push through when the team is ready, but he's a great coach that could get the next coach that can make that playoff push ready for them.

Poor Hornets...what a mistake if they want to develop young players.
Good defensive coach, awful to work with young players.
Thank god he left.

Lamelo is very talented but he needs to mature and grow up. Without really needing to develop him on the skill side of things, maybe Clifford can actually be a good coach that can grow him up a bit. Or maybe the relationship turns toxic, the team sides with the player like always, and Clifford is gone in a year or two.

Regardless, it's pretty bizarre to have a team fire Coach A, hire Coach B, then fire Coach B to replace him with Coach A. I can't remember anything like that before. We brought back Brian Hill, but there were a lot of years and coaches separating his two appointments.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.
