Frankly, Durant and Jimmy Buckets is terrifying.

theyd probably give up herro and even a third piece too id imagine.

and if that happened are they really all that more terrifying than durant and a motivated playoff kyrie?

like for us we'd probably have to give up jrue and khris to get back KD and salary filler. sure giannis and durant would be terrifying but practically do we get better? i think for games and stretches we might but im not sure overall we would

I definitely think having Brook insurance this year is paramount. We shouldn't go into the season with him as our only center option

What about Bobby? The defense was better with Bobby at center last year than it was with Brook at center each of the last 2 years. Giannis is also a Center.

The thing we need to avoid is having Giannis as the only 4 on our roster again.

Bobby can't play drop defense and that's been proven. He's ok since a switching scheme, but having the flexibility to play different defenses is key. Also it just isn't true that our defense with Bobby was better than it was with Brook last season

Actually, our defensive rating with Bobby at center was actually really good, better than with Brook.

What good team were we ever effective against using the drop in the playoffs?

Bobby is most effective playing a hedging defense, which is becoming the most common defense in the NBA. There's just too many shooters to play a deep drop in today's NBA.

So we drafted a wing and a combo guard and signed a UDFA combo guard.
I thought we needed a small-ball 4/5. Are we going to sign one?
I thought we needed someone who can create on offense. Are we going to sign someone?
What are our options with and without re-signing Portis?

SAC wants to get rid of Holmes which leaves them w/ basically nothing at C. They also want to win now. They have good depth at F, maybe they'll deal Barnes in a package for Lopez & Tucker. Then use Hill, Vildoza & picks to go after Muscala & KWilliams.

Holiday/Carter
Midds/Allen
Barnes/PatC/MarJon
Giannis/Williams/Thanos
Portis/Muscala/Mamu

We played a ton of drop last year against Miami, Brooklyn & Atlanta. Bobby got played off the court against Brooklyn last year(to be fair Brook should have been played off the court against Boston but we had no other options)

Your calling last years Miami good? They were terrible. Bobby could have made a huge impact against Brooklyn if he'd been allowed to hedge, but at least that lead to allowing him to hedge in the Finals, where the center minutes from him and Giannis helped overcome how bad Brooks minutes were. The Atlanta games we lost were directly caused by the drop. The Brooklyn series was almost lost because of the drop.

We need another good player, not some center stiff.

The offseason hasn't really even started yet. I think we'll make a few trades to address our weaknesses. We have the tMLE. We now have 8 2nds and a first we can trade. Allen, Hill and Brook can be sent out to bring in up to $33 million in salary. I think we'll get something done.

If Brooklyn blows up, I’d love to go after Bruce brown in free agency.

Iverson Molinar looks like a potential keeper if reverts back to 2020 stats.

Poor man’s Dennis Schroeder.

Not sure Dennis Schroeder is a good player so the poor man's version of him doesn't sound very enticing.

See that Orlando immediately gave away Mo Bamba’s jersey number 5 to Paolo. Harsh.

That said, he’s still a restricted free agent. Wonder what Orlando’s play is going to be here. Would love the Bucks to take a flyer with a TPMLE offer, but think Orlando matches.

I think they're going to renounce so he can get paid and they can do something else.

Under the radar trade idea
Pistons have all we need...

Brook + Grayson + Hill ... for ... Olynyk + Kemba + Hamidou Diallo

If a pick is needed just add it.

Olynyk still stretches the floor
Kemba starts with Jrue , at last we get a 2nd reliable ball handler.
Diallo adds athleticism to the wings. We need a Giannis co-runner for fast break points.

Then sign Free Agents ...

PF/C Isaiah Hartenstein
PG/SG Delon Wright
SG Bryn Forbes

Kemba / D.Wright
Jrue / Forbes / Diallo
Khris / Pat / Diallo
Giannis / Hartenstein
Portis / Olynyk

In the end I think it's all where KD prefers to go.

Hot take alert: I wouldn't give Mobley up for KD if I were the Cavs

I don't see Durant wanting to play in Memphis, hence why I didn't put him in the list I had posted above. Ditto for Cleveland.

What assets does Miami have left? I think they'd deal pretty much anything save for Butler and BAM.

Just to make it work financially, if we stipulate that Bam and Butler are untouchable, it would have to start at Lowry and Robinson. Then you'd have to add Herro and a trove of picks and I'm guessing there would be some wrangling about Vincent and Strus

Why would any rebuilding team want Lowry or Robinson.. they would hold negative value. Herro is probably the only player they'd want. Then you'd be looking at at least 4 1sts / more.

Yeah I think Bamba is gone from the Magic. He’s a taller Dante Exum.

Having said that I would take a flyer on him but MLE money seems even too much…
