he's more in the mold of westbrook/morant/derrick rose.
Highly suggest everyone watch this to get more familiar with Davison.

Since when is 6'3'' tiny for a PG?
Doubt he’s even 6’1” in sneakers. So all of Pritchard haters saying HE is small will surely keep that same energy regarding Davidson right?!
Combine measurements are your friend bud. He measured well above 6’1” a month ago, unless of course he shrunk since then?

1. Love the highlights of him pushing the pace, hair flowing behind him. If he gets to BOS and starts “walking the dog” every time up the court part of my basketball fandom will die.
2. I love watching Mike Schmidt interviews/film sessions and you’ve posted this one a couple of times — good watch, but just FYI you will almost always come away from these “liking” the draft prospect on a personal level — seems humble, thoughtful, etc. It’s true for JD but I’ve found it true for almost everyone and hey it speaks to people being fundamentally good/likable I believe!

He only reminds me of Avery in that he was a top recruit out of high school and his stock dropped after freshman year. I like those type of picks because when they pan out it can be huge. Rob Williams is another guy like that. I am excited to see a 6-2 dunk contest candidate who lives to rebound and block shots play in summer league. It would be nice to see him develop into a guy who could replace PP as the energy guy off the bench if and when PP hits free agency.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

He has time to improve that in the GLeague for the next year or two.

Nice! From the article:
When you talk about his dunking ability, and the power in his game, Ja Morant comes to mind. He’s a bigger kid than Ja and is pretty muscular. I think he could be a real menace. He’s almost like Marcus Smart in terms of being an absolute unit.
High praise indeed. Now,its nice to see the praise and comparisons to Rose, Morant, Westbrook, Smart, etc, but we know JD has a LONG way to go.
Despite his short comings now, he possesses certain abilities that, looking back, no backup Celtics PG (or starter outside of maybe Rozier and early Avery Bradley) has had in the past ten years.
Off the top of my head: Pritchard, Wannamaker, Smart, Kemba, IT, Kyrie, Tremont, Rondo, etc -- can any of those guys even dream about doing the acrobatics that JD will bring on day 1? Nope, you gotta go back to, like, Dee Brown to find that type of flight plan in Celtics PG lore. Amiright fam?
Hype aside, I have a theory about why players like JD Davison and Trevion Williams would have been late first round just a few years ago. As KD tweeted "It's a Wings league" (or something to that effect).
But the NBA goes through the occasional sea change, and what goes around comes around. Once the league gets saturated with 6'6" uber-wings (named Jaden or Jalen!), there will come a time when the JD's come back to blow the **** by them to the hoop. Then all those GM's will be shouting "Get me the next Davison!!!" and we'll see the 6'2" guys back in form.
It's already happening, Brad is just ahead of the curve on this one.

Nate Robinson. Davison is kind of like a taller Nate robinson. I think Davison has potential to have a better all around game though..

Re: Welcome to Boston, JD Davison!
Looks alot like Alabama's Saxton (even the hair thing) but more athletic and explosive. We'll know in SL if he can contribute in the regular season. Winning games and the bench eating minutes is what it's all about now. If we get lucky, and it's up to the individual, he may contribute in spot minutes off the bench in the POs. Good upside at 50 whatever

He's listed at 6'3" in a number of places.

Probably had Coach K do his measurement. If you don’t understand that statement, stand next to Johnny Dawkins and check his listed height at Duke
The most recent one for Davison is the one I and Hal14 referenced.
Spectacularly athletic is a helluva quote.
At 6'1 he's gonna need to be.
He has the thleticism and speed
that Pritch doesn't --- we need that.

Re: Welcome to Boston, JD Davison!
Solid pick at 53. Definite NBA body. Has a huge amount of stuff to work on, but from what little I've seen it seems a lot of it is just decision making and trying to play too fast. It's going to be an even bigger adjustment now, a little over a year ago he was playing 2A HS hoops now he's going against the best athletes in the world. I expect him to basically redshirt this next year.
Not super worried about his shooting. Yeah it is slow and he doesn't really jump but overall it looks like he has consistent release point. Guys will have to respect his ability to penetrate, so he will have space to shoot. Look at Ja's shot, it's similar. Obviously he has to work on his shot but I think the base is there, and if he can get into the 35-37% range from 3 that's all we need.
I think Brad got really tired of guys walking the ball up the floor. We simply have nobody on the team who can push the pace, at all. JD is a blur. He might be a bit out of control at times but his instinct is to push, and that's sorely lacking in our team's current PG stable.
If JD looks like he can even play spot minutes, I would not be surprises if Pritchard is traded. His value is high, but I don't think he fits what Brad and Ime want to do. Brad has gotten rid of every player who is not a plus defender. PP better not get too comfortable.

I left Allen off that list as he was technically not a true PG (but then again he was a primary ball handler at times), whereas Smart is the de facto PG now.
Anyway, the point was not comparison, per se, but that Davison brings an athletic skill that for Celtic Nation is as rare as stars in the midday sky. I think we're going to love watching him.... that is, if he can actually play NBA level basketball.

I think we need to assume this guy is a swing for the fences selection, who given our team’s drive for a title is two years away from being a year away.

Sorry didn't see the PG bit. Definitely got to up the tempo.
Our record scoring i think 110-115 points was tremendous.

Sure that's most likely.
But it'd be nice to get lucky and land that sleeper keeper.
