So much for KP saying they hoped to get another first round pick. Smoke ? Or nobody willing to trade ?

I'd say no one willing to trade for what we wanted to give. I think Stephenson is done.

I don't watch college basketball so I don't really know anything, but historically when there is a superstar big man prospect who does great in college, there's often a steady point guard on his team quietly helping him succeed. So that is why I have more-than-normal hopes for our second round pick, Andrew Nembhard. Chet Holmgren got all the attention of course, but Nembhard was surely part of his success.

Nembhard played very well in the games at the combine.

Kennedy Chandler, picked 38, just got a record setting deal for a second round pick. Will complicate Nembhard bargaining.

I’m really high on this kid being a steady point guard. He’s got plenty of time to learn from Tyrese and TJ.

Nothing flashy but fearless and steady.

Agree and he'll get PT when opponents have too much size for TJ

I really like having Haliburton and Nembhard manning the PG position long term, feels like a really solid tandem

Bring back Lance on a vet minimum contract to be the 3rd PG and it's perfect

I think that's McConnell's spot. I expect him to be the 2nd PG with Nembhard 3rd although he's much taller and should get some run when TJ has a bad matchup.

First 3 years fully guaranteed. Team option on year 4, but fully guaranteed if exercised. Likely $2.15m flat per year structure.

As expected I see he’s getting preseason run. Has anyone watched him play to see if he’s going to warrant more than the typical 4-8 minute Aaron Holiday backup guard slot ?

The team is in a totally different place than when Aaron was here. I’d expect coaches to be much more willing to let him play through mistakes than they were with Holiday. But, just like Aaron it will come down to the reliability of his shot. The other factor who is available in the 2023 draft? Not much opportunity if Scoot Henderson lands here.

Aaron and McConnell are both small guards. Nembhard is not. he'll play when the matchup is bad for TJ, when there is foul trouble, and I suspect he'll sometimes play with Haliburton who will move to the two. he is signed fr 4 years so the expectation is that he will grow into9 TJs spot.

I don't see us drafting a point guard in the lottery. unless it is a reach and Wama isn't on the board, we'll draft a SF leaving Nembhard as TJs eventual successor.

He doesn't have all-star potential but he's good at everything and plays hard. You have yourself a legit backup PG for years to come.
Think of him as a Tyus Jones level play and we all saw how important Tyus was to the Grizzlies to the season.

Haliburton-Nembhard is a terrific PG duo to build on for years to come.

Also please leave some Canadians for the rest of us, lol.

Y'all got some solid young Canadian pieces - Mathurin, Nembhard, Duarte, Brissett

Sorry for this random bump.

Curious to see what Pacers fans think of Nembhard this season.

he's exceeded all expectations. we thought he'd be a third point guard, but he's much more than that. he's one of our best on ball defenders. Carlisle likes to play multiple ball handlers and he's played a lot with Haliburton or McConnell. with Duarte out, he's been a starter at the two as they like Mathurin on the second unit and a defender on the first.

I'm gonna says a few teams who passed on him in the late first round are gonna wish they'd taken him. He looks very solid.
