Trying to revamp my top 25 list: How do you rank David Robinson, Moses Malone and Patrick Ewing?

Back in 2017 or so I definitely had Moses at the top of this group, but just trying to see other people's perspectives

I go Robinson(top-20) > Malone(top-25) > Ewing(top-25/30) all-time, it's pretty much how I view their peaks as well. Moses maybe closer than Ewing than he is Robinson but i'm revisiting his career rn so we'll see

M. Malone 18th, D. Robinson 20th, Ewing not in my top 25.

I agree its Robinson > Malone > Ewing. It's a shame that we only really scrutinize the Top 10 and we constantly rehash it, spots 11-30 are much more difficult and much more interesting to rank IMO.

Robinson clearly the best imo then Moses then Ewing. I'm super high on D-Rob I think I have him 13.

I also rate Robinson highly, thigh admittedly not quite that high, but Moses is close to him, he had such a great career, with one of the best primes. 3 mvps winning them over Kareem, Magic, Bird and DrJ is very impressive. I have Moses top 20 and ahead of Nowitzki, Curry, Durant, Barkley and DrJ. Ewing is top 30, possibly top 25. He is a forgotten player but was on the same level as Robinson and Olajuwon in the early to mid 90s, not many can compare to that.

Honestly I am warming up to putting Moses in my top 15. Robinson was better but Moses seems like Hakeem with worse defense and athleticism, but much better rebounding.

Robinson better than Moses especially on defense. Moses better than Patrick.

Robinson was never the best player on a championship team but I don’t care about that. Young pre-injury Robinson hit a higher level of play than Moses did.

I have not done my list but I suspect I am more like Robinson 11th Moses 15th Ewing 21st

Doesn't seem that surprising and its not like he added much to his legacy after 83 when he was only like 28. He came in at 20th in 2017 and 19th in 2014 in board top 100's.

Moses and Ewing is a somewhat interesting comp but I have Drob as the best of the 3 by far

I would have them placed

Drob: high end 14(?) low end 20

Ewing: high end 25(?) low end 30(?)

Moses: high end 25(??) low end 32(?)

Drob has a monster peak. One of the best two way stars of all time and a fringe top 5 defender ever. He’s a consistent playoff dropper but he’s still an elite player and could’ve performed better with a better offensive supporting cast (although his help wasn’t *terrible*) he peaks as an all time player to me.

Ewing Is 2nd Of the 3 imo p4p and is also a 2 way star that can score. He’s a fringe mvp caliber player with more than a decade of all nba caliber years

Moses is last but still a top 30 player imo. At his peak he’s a solid defender and an elite scorer while being the greatest rebounder of all time. He arguably has the best longevity of the 3 but I don’t think his peak is enough to pass Ewing (although you can argue it)

The 3 mvp years and everything I've read about Moses makes me think he was much closer to being considered the Best in the nba than D-Rob.

Part of me also thinks that due to modern analysis discrediting the impact of offensive rebounding that people might be punishing Moses' style of play a bit unfairly

The obsession with the Top 10 strikes me as really weird.
But then again, I am new here.
Yes, spots 11-30 are more interesting, and so are the rest too, with the ranking project always becoming more challenging as the length increases, and more candidates are eligible, with much less clear answers. (Something about "asymptotes", right?)

I need to redo my top 100 to capture the developments of the last few seasons, so these are estimates...

Yes, we are talking here about the 6th, 7th, and 8th greatest centers ever.
But for me they are clearly on different tiers.

Malone: Top 20, maybe even Top 15. Most under-rated player ever I figure. The Kareem-stopper. A fantastic 9-year prime. I just wish he had retired 3-5 years earlier than he did; it really tarnished his allure.

Robinson: Top 30, maybe Top 25. Awesome 7-year prime, plus a few more very good years. But I have trouble fully recommending his career as much as most folks here seem too. Whether it was his two early years in Naval Service, or some later years with a less significant role/impact, I just think that this is not the obvious Top 25 Career that most seem to think it is - but it is close!

Ewing: Top 50, maybe Top 40, but I doubt it. An exemplar of a great but not all-time great career. One of the most over-rated players ever I figure. Solid 8-year prime, with some good years before and after too. So much potential for true greatness, and sometimes so close at hand too. What a rollercoaster experience that was. I need to play my Old Person Card here - if you saw him in college, and even just as a fan how it felt to go up against him in those Final 4s, you would understand how much of a difference most of his NBA style felt. That style was highly skilled, and sometimes special, but rarely as great as the narrative now firmly in place.

Hey, is Elvin Hayes a Center? If Hayes had a better Public Relations Department this would be a lot closer than you think regarding Ewing/Hayes 8th/9th center of all time. And hopefully, about ten years from now, Jokic will pass by both Hayes and Ewing. (And we are continuing to pretend that Tim Duncan is not a center, right? Just checking.)
