came here to post this, especially at the end of a shotclock it seems like every other shot he takes literally does just that. OR it hits just the side of the backboard lol

He keeps saying this like he's going to do something though. Millions of people have said it at this point, some to his face, some he's clearly had to cross path with in the media at some point. And 0 punches now lol. So he really needs to stop acting like he's going to rough somebody up, it's cringy.

Exactly! You think the internet is the only place where he gets heckled? He's heard it in public before I'm sure.

I'm sure fans at the games have been calling him Westbrick and making signs to heckle him in real time. If he is really that much of a snowflake...he'd be charging into the crowd EVERY GAME. We'd be seeing the Malice in the Palace play out every 5 minutes during a Lakers game. It'd be Will Smith slapping Chris Rock every day when Russ is walking on the street and someone calls him out. But all this time...0 punches...0 slaps.

Russ is also being a bit of a keyboard warrior.

Yes, this is the price you pay for being a public figure...for making hundreds of millions of dollars to put a basketball in a hoop...embarrassing yourself by putting up some really ill-advised and ugly shots on a regular basis...still thinking you are the **** while doing so...and then being all defensive about it when people notice it and call you out. If you cannot handle the criticism or are unwilling to take that criticism and channel it to improving your game...leave the game.

Westbrook has thin skin but I mean who wouldn’t enjoy watching Skip Bayless get punched in the face?

what's his endgame here? all that he's going to do by acknowledging skip is empowering him. he's not actually going to confront skip face to face. so what's the point.

the best way to shut skip up would be to let his game do the talking. he can ask lebron james about that.

Skip Bayless gets under these guys skin so easily. The only player (NBA only) I've seen actually get Skip to stop calling him outside his name was Chris Bosh. He use to call him "Posh" as for Posh Spice. Chris came on First Take, they had a mature conversation and Skip stopped from that day forward I believe.

Heckling performance has been part of sports since the beginning. Most successful players embrace and make light of it. Try hards and hardos make it bigger than it it’s, you’re disrespecting my family etc. Russ is just making it worse for himself, regardless of how many jock sniffers on espn defend him.

Russ like many players are very sensitive. They want to voice their opinion but they want everybody else to be mutes. I find these people to be extremely weak personally.

Thank you for having the courage & bravery to share your judgement and analysis about another human being's character publically, but behind a hidden digital alias through a computer or phone screen where those reading don't know who you are: your family names, your basketball pedigree on a basketball forum, source of income, etc.

Insightful basketball commentary, HMFFL!

Metrics wise, fwiw; you have more RealGM posts than Russ has NBA career points (#31 all time total).

Congrats there, quite an accomplishment with these types of posts. :sour:

Warned for personal attack. We all post our opinion on basketball players here without it being a referendum on ourselves, personally. This is a forum for basketball discussion and a poster saying 'Westbrook bad' is not the same as saying 'Westbrook worse than me'

A lot of people still subscribe to the old idea of large media companies being the only input and output between the stars and the audience. And stars are otherwise beyond reach.

That's not how it works anymore. Everyone is talking at all times.

Don't be such a snowflake Russ.

He really has some of the most unfathomable misses I've ever seen. It's hard to believe an NBA player, and an MVP just a few years ago, shoots the way he does. You don't even see random guys in a pickup game who literally miss THAT badly lol.

I know what Russ is trying...which is this weird bank shot where he bounces the ball from the top corner of the backboard and it angles in to the basket...but that's really a bad basketball shot because you either hit right at the sweet spot and it goes in or it's a really bad miss. It isn't very forgiving when you are even a little off. It is extremely low percentage.

And his other bad shots are just...just bad shooting and decision making. Can't explain it any other way. Honestly...Russ isn't Steph Curry when you know that even when you miss 9 in a row...the 10th could go in. That's just not Russ' game.

I dunno. I’d probably get tired of a guy like Skip Bayless too. Not that Russ hasn’t created a lot of his problems but he’s taken a beating for a while now and eventually that’s going to get to anyone. Dude is prideful if nothing else and there’s no way the noise isn’t getting to him. Team Russ on this one. I actually don’t find him that outspoken either for the people that are saying that. Seems pretty low key unless something is asked.

So you've seen someone literally say "Westbrick" to his face, without a phone to record, or police and security in attendance?

Come on man, let's see the "majority" say it to him without some kind of insurance to fall back on.

And I'm not saying Westbrook is a tough guy who is going to whip somebodies a-ss. But the Internet Basketball Community is so cringe that majority wouldn't have the balls to say it unless they knew they could get something out of it otherwise? It'd end up in a verbal confrontation and most people face to face, don't have the mental aptitude to handle face to face confrontation especially in today's world where they're so used to confrontation behind a screen. There is such a small minority that would go up and ridicule a person without a phone, security guard, police officer or other individual around to record the interaction. It's so damn easy to sit in the stands and talk trash then sit back, laugh and record the players angry response. Yet Westbrook is the villain here for other people acting like tools? Ok

People are bashing Westbrook for reacting the way he is, fair enough. But don't act like the Internet isn't full of wannabe tough guys especially the Basketball Community which is full of hot takes and douchebags everywhere.

Nah what is cringe worthy is people supporting his threats of violence. The Dude is a public persona who gets paid millions as part of his job. Comments about his family or personal **** are out of bounds but Westbrick is a direct comment on his basketball skills or lack thereof.

WestBricks reaction is yet another example of why the dude has not ever been to an NBA Championship and why he is a boat anchor on the Lakers currently.

As much as I dislike him, have to agree a media figure shouldnt use derogative nicknames. It is quite unprofessional. As flawed a player at Westbrook can be, depending on the team around him and fit, he is a professional athelete, former MVP who works hard.

Since when is 'brick' derogative?

It implies his shots are bricks. Which seems by definition insulting to a basketball player. He is an NBA pro. Those guys seem pretty much among the best 100 people in the world at putting a certain ball through a hoop. For an old dude who likely can hit a free throw to throw shade like that is pretty much pure envy.

Its not that big a deal though. The brick is not because he is build like a brick or something vaguely complimentary is it?
