To be fair, I heard both Gregg and Tim gave it 5 bags.

TLJ was so awesome the subsequent film had to spend the first 20 minutes literally telling the audience to completely disregard anything that happened in it.

Great stuff.

They didn’t have to but JJ Abrams did it anyway because he’s a hack.

I thought all the last three SW films were bad, but TLJ was at least interesting, while being bad. JJ Abrams seemed to think we wanted the plots of the originals, with bland new characters. Im glad to be done with all three.

Bringing back Palpatine in ROS but restricting him to an intergalactic hospital bed was the oddest choice ever.

I think they should have simply kept Snoke as the main baddy instead of being a red herring. They could have done a lot with that. But nope, that would require some originality.

Rise was non-sensical. The dagger mcguffin, really?

I don’t care either way, but why would one make a Star Wars movie specifically for people who dislike Star Wars fans?

Seems like a b!tch move tbh.

TLJ was a disgrace and probably cost Mickey BILLIONS.

The entire purpose of working within a known universe is that you don't have to explain the universe to your audience. The only caveat to that is that you have to abide by the rules established in previous movies.

Indy 4 wasn't the worst movie ever; but it did spit in the face of the first three and changed the underlying physics of the universe. TLJ took it a step further and took a chainsaw to the foundation of the Star Wars universe. If you aren't a SW fan you probably enjoyed the fans watching their world get pantsed. But that doesn't make a good movie, it means you, like RJ are a troll. Solo and RoS massively underperformed because RJ pissed in everyone's Cheerios. It took years before anyone went back to the SW universe and it took a really good Mandalorian show to bring them back.

Or it was just a really good movie and I liked watching it.

RoS didn't underperform. It was a really crappy flick.

Is there a really short version of what the crimes were that the more recent Star Wars movies committed? I guess you could call me a casual fan? Like the movies but I've never doing any reading about them or whatever, they are just action movies set in a cool looking universe.

“Rise” was solid and it was fun watching a movie about Giannis with the whole family. And I did get a little emotional at the end, probably more from the story itself than the movie. It was fine. Fine I say. I do think it could have been an all timer, there were 3-5 things in the Woj podcast about this story that made me tear up that were not even included. If anything, they undersold Giannis’ commitment to brothers and parents. Also, the kid (Giannis) is so charismatic, and that only came out in the nike scene. They should have shown what an infectious personality he has.

All the talk about SW and Rise of Skywalker and whatnot made me really confused reading this post.
