Re: Ben Simmons
I think Odom is the fairest comparison at the moment. Athletic and skilled enough to play perimeter ball but he's physical as hell from growing up around the Australian rugby culture. Excited to see how his season goes.

Lamar Odom seems to be the perfect comparison versatile defensively, good ball handling, fast and quick for size, average jump shot.
But I think he will be better because of his work ethic that Odom did not have.

Australian Rules Football, not Rugby.
He was born in Melbourne then moved back there where he grew up.

Re: Ben Simmons
i am absolutely impressed with his personel maturity. i would pick him mainly because of that. he is so different from all that really good ballin' kids in his age which are thinking of basketball only.
he should have a duncanesque influence on his teammates.

Thanks for the correction, I just know I've heard him speak several times in interviews about how Australian culture made him tougher and embrace the physical side of the game.

He played Rugby as well, but stopped when he was about 13 I think.
Either way, Aussie Rules players are more physical than those Rugby pansies.

Ben Simmons is a PF in as much as Paul George is a PF now. Big enough and physical enough to play it given where the game's going.

Paul George is more of a 2/3 than 3/4. He doesn't really have the frame to guard 4s.

He is a better athlete than Odom. Simmons athletism is really getting underrated here. if he repeats his 41' vert at the NBA combine its clear that he is an elite athlete.
Overall in terms of Game Style i Kinda like the Odom Comparison. Yet we dont really know what the Ceiling of a Hard Working Odom would have been. I mean in his best years he averaged 16/8/5. What would that mean for Simmons?
Is actual Odom his Floor? I dont know.
a more athletic hard working Odom is something hard to imagine because Lamar was immensly talented himself.
I still also like my Grant Hill comparison. The smoothness. the amazing BBiQ. The Point Forward"ism"
I could see Simmons as a regular 21/7/6 guy like hill was before his injury. He likley wont be a Lebron/Durant 27-32ppg type scorer. But his All Around Potential is greater than anyonei have seen in years.

Theres a Skal Labissiere every draft, but we don't see a guy with Ben's skillset very often.
Point Forwards are growing much more popular with how much PGs are inclined to score these days,

2015 NBA Champs - Iggy
2014 NBA Champs - Diaw
2013 NBA Champs - James
2012 NBA Champs - James
Last 4 years a point forward has been a significant part of the championship team.

Where are you getting their ages? Draftexpress has Ingram at 17.9 years, Jaylen at 18.7, Ben at 19.0 and Skal at 19.3.

My educated guess, is that Ingram doesn't look so good at Cal and either comes back for his sophomore year or slides to the late lotto.

I'll second that. NO WAY Ingram looks good at Cal this year.
Especially since he'll be at Duke. Gonna be extra hard to pull that off.

He has a Durant esque frame though. If he shows flashes I think he goes and gets picked mid lottery just based on potential.
